Kiva is seeking a hands-on, all-around systems expert to support our growing IT infrastructure. The primary responsibility is to make sure that the Kiva staff have the IT tools and resources they need to be as productive as possible. It includes a mix of technical support, systems building, and a little bit of whatever else needs to get fixed. The successful candidate should enjoy working in a startup environment (with all the challenges and rewards that come with it), and be able to effectively manage time and balance priorities. Because of the wide range of technologies and skills involved, you may not know everything today, but should be able to pick it all up quickly. And if you can reduce all these tasks to automated/self-service solutions, then we can move on to the really fun stuff. Smiley

Responsibilities Include:

    * Maintain and troubleshoot issues with office network (LAN/wireless/internet connectivity)
    * Maintain and improve phone system (managed VOIP)
    * Manage and improve corporate email system, including account updates (hosted Exchange + qmail)
    * Desktop support in mixed Mac/Windows environment
    * Setting up new employees and orienting them to IT resources
    * Tracking inventory & assets, handling hardware/software purchases
    * Designing and implementing company-wide policies related to security and controls
    * Anything else related to internal systems (wiki, blog, document management, reporting) and ongoing projects to make them better

Ideal candidate

    * 5+ years hands-on experience in an IT role (or enough time to have seen it all)
    * Thrive in a challenging, fast-paced, high-energy startup environment
    * Excellent time management & communication skills and ability to document in writing
    * Experience with both Windows and Mac platforms
    * Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Office
    * History of automating routine tasks or building self-service solution
    * History of bringing order to a growing organization

Compensation & Benefits

    * Competitive compensation plus benefits
    * All expense paid trip to visit field partners once a year
    * Flexible work environment, but must live in Bay Area and work out of San Francisco office
    * Knowing that you’re helping to change the world for the better

If interested…

    * Send email to jobs@kiva.org. Include in the Subject Line: IT Operations Manager
    * Include resume and brief cover letter explaining why you’re interested / qualified
    * Please do not contact the office directly with any questions or follow-up inquiries
    * Principals only

Due to the high numbers of applicants for this position, we regret that we can only respond to candidates that we would like to interview.
