Wish that had been mentioned .... would have saved us a lot of time.

DH mentioned it further back in this thread when Lorna was also trying to vote.
It's too bad the AMEX didn't restrict this in such a way that it excludes a whole lot of their loyal customers.

We are currently in 2nd place, which means, if we stay there, that we would get $500,000. We are about 6,400 votes behind the current 1st place, which is an Alzheimer's project. In 2 days, the top 5 will be announced, and there will be a final vote, with the grand winner announced on October 14th. It's obvious that kiva will be in the top 5, but the different between the 1st and 5th places cash wise is enormous.

1st-$1,500,000
2nd- $500,000
3rd-$300,000
4th and 5th- $100,000

We are currently only about 1,000 votes ahead of 3rd place, an education project, so be sure to re-vote after the 29th, so we stay as high as we can. Thanks everyone who voted.

The bad news is that Kiva has slipped from 2nd to 4th place! Cry  Pissy
The good news is that we are now only 400 votes behind the 3rd place project. (We were a lot farther behind this afternoon)  Drinks
Keep up the good work. The difference between 3rd and 4th place is $200,000...

OKay, doing good, we are only 14, let me repeat that, 14 votes behind 3rd place now! We can easily surpass them.
Keep at it.

Yeah, we are now in third place  Hurrah ! And to make it even better we are less than 200 votes behind 2nd place. That would bring the grant up to a grand total of $500,000! Lets see if we can make it  Thumbs Up

If you go to the home page of the members project site there should be five boxes on the screen. They tell you what place each project is in. If you roll over the box it tells you exactly how many votes there are for that project.

Henry, you can sign up for American Express on the site - which is more than us Canadians can do - we would love to help but we are just sitting here with our fingers crossed...
This is a US contest, so all the KFers from the United States need to gather round...

I wrote about voting for Kiva on the Amex project recently and I guess the IMC trying to garner some votes also. Not that I don't care about feeding malnourished children but... soliciting people who are already supporting another project (Kiva)?

Hi there,

Because you've written about another organization nominated for the American Express Members Projects on your blog, Endless Gibberish, I would like to ask for your help. My organization, International Medical Corps focuses on feeding hungry children around the world, and we are very excited to have made the final 5 nominated projects out of 1,190 worthwhile projects.  "Saving the Lives of Malnourished Children" is now eligible to receive up to $1.5 million to help feed hungry and malnourished children and we would be thrilled if you would help us. I've put together this blogger friendly news release explaining everything.

http://internationalmedicalcorps.smnr.us/

If you could vote for us and post about this on your blog to encourage your readers to vote too, it would really help spread the message and could save many lives. Voting ends October 13th and is simple and free. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.

Chessia
