OKay, good going ladies and gents, we are now only about 1500 votes behind 2nd place.  We were over 4,000 votes behind a day or two ago. That means we're pressing hard and closing the gap. But we can't do it with just kiva members. If you know anyone who's a cardmember, send them to the link.

If you've checked the Members Project website the race for second place has gotten EXTREMELY close. Kiva is 811 votes away from second place, which has an additional $200,000 in prize money. $200,000 in money for Kiva can lead to $10 million in loans!!

I have to agree with Robert on the Costco idea.  Great intent, Sanjaya, but if someone walked up to me with their laptop and asked me to enter my logon and password to Amex in order to vote for something I had never heard of, I'd walk away and call authorities to report possible attempted fraud.

Much better to spread the word about Kiva's mission and explain to folks how to vote and how to begin making loans once they get home.

The voting has just ended.  With 24,101 votes, the Alzheimer's Association has won the $1.5M prize in the Members Project from American Express.

Second place went to DonorsChoose.org, with 20,650 votes, earning them $500,000.

And in THIRD PLACE with 19,543 votes was Kiva.org, earning $300,000 towards new opportunities to help change lives through microlending!

While it would have been super to win the $1.5M, third place and $300,000 is such a wonderful result!  Remember, 1,190 worthy causes were nominated, and to finish THIRD among them is just... WOW!!!  Congratulations, Kiva, and thanks to everyone who got out the vote -- especially our cheerleader, lspenle!  Your enthusiasm was contagious and helped bring us so close and keep us focused on the goal.
