Welcome to the first round of voting for the 2009 Kiva Calendar.  There are 27 concurrent polls (one for each country) – remember to vote in each one.

You have up to 1 votes in this poll, nominally for: Female individual.

Below are links to each  entrepreneurs' profile and a thumbnail (which in turn is linked to the full-sized image – be warned some are a couple of MB or more)

The winners of each country will then go through to the next round of voting*. (Results will be available after the poll has ended).

Kiva profile: Helmina Kulalic
Kiva profile: Selmira Mehanovic
Kiva profile: Senija Selimovic
Kiva profile: Armina Golub

*I am currently reserving the right that if there is a tie I will have the casting vote (I will not have voted in the poll, however tempting it might be).

Where possible the casting vote will be used to ensure:
- a balance of male and female entrepreneurs (as to the Kiva ratio)
- a balance of businesses (farming, shops, repairs, food, markets etc).

Christopher gave me the go ahead to advocate my choice(s)... so I will do that, starting here in Bosnia/Herzegovina:

I realize that for some Senija Selimovic would be an obvious first choice - but, please, look closely at the photo of Selmira Mehanovic before you cast your vote... she looks so wonderfully out of place next to those giant plants and one is ready to believe that Selmira may need to hire someone to help her [from the writeup]. I just had to vote for her (that I am on this loan was purely accidental Wink ).

Take care,
Wolfgang.

Ya ya ya Wolfgang........no bias there!!  However, I agree with you on your choice!!  Selmira was my first choice......hands down........no question.  I love those colors and those plants just jump off the page!!

Selmira here too...Wolfgang Im predominantly German as well, 170 years removed from the motherland...maybe the German preference and taste made it down to me after all those years after all.

I find not direction in the readings of those with whom my eccentricities are similar, but rather validation.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.
