Welcome to the first round of voting for the 2009 Kiva Calendar.  There are 27 concurrent polls (one for each country) – remember to vote in each one.

You have up to 2 votes in this poll, nominally for: Female individual; Male individual.

Below are links to each  entrepreneurs' profile and a thumbnail (which in turn is linked to the full-sized image – be warned some are a couple of MB or more)

The winners of each country will then go through to the next round of voting*. (Results will be available after the poll has ended).

Kiva profile: Essi Boevi
Kiva profile: Véronique ADJOVI
Kiva profile: Essavi Wallace
Kiva profile: Mensah Vidahe
Kiva profile: Yawavi Amegbeto
Kiva profile: Afi Abalo
Kiva profile: Akou Goka
Kiva profile: Adzoto Gadzo
Kiva profile: Sitsofe Dego
Kiva profile: Maman Nossi
Kiva profile: Maman Akakpo
Kiva profile: Essi Bongo
Kiva profile: Koffi Assamua

*I am currently reserving the right that if there is a tie I will have the casting vote (I will not have voted in the poll, however tempting it might be).

Where possible the casting vote will be used to ensure:
- a balance of male and female entrepreneurs (as to the Kiva ratio)
- a balance of businesses (farming, shops, repairs, food, markets etc).

I voted for & recommend Yawavi Amegbeto as at least one of your choices.
This is a wonderful, poignant pic of this woman working her fields with her children!!

I agree, Geoff, it was my obvious first choice, too.

The second was between Adzoto Gadzo and Essi Bongo - but Essi Bongo's smile made me vote for her in the end.

Take care,
Wolfgang.

We're 2 for 2 and for the exact same reasons.  Thumbs Up
Geoff
P.S. Mr. Tambourine Man was on my list also, just didn't want to keep posting Dylan titles.  Smiley

I chose Mensah and Maman due to originality of the first and color of the second...I would have chosen Yawayi but Im always voting for the green garden pics...I was also torn over Adzoto...still time to change though!

I find not direction in the readings of those with whom my eccentricities are similar, but rather validation.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.
