I wore my Kiva t-shirt this morning - and as I stepped out of our neighbourhood Women In Need store - this lady came up to me and said...
"Excuse me, but I noticed your shirt. I just heard about Kiva last night and it is such a coincidence to see the name again today. Is what I heard true?"
Well, needless to say, my morning is running about 15 minutes late but we had a lovely conversation about my favourite topic.
Although it may be unusual to start a new topic with a quotation from another thread, Jan's comment caused me to think about my Kiva apparel. In my experience the most effective of my collection of Kiva gear is my "Wanna Help Buy a Goat?" shirt. It has led to more Kiva questions and conversations by far. A few people have initially thought the "goat shirt" was referring to Heifer International (certainly a worthy organization), but I still get to tell them about Kiva.
There was an election the other day in my state and I wore my goat shirt to the polls and was asked about it. I've been using an explanation that I got from Peter (see
http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,2385.0.html) and people seem to be responding.
I would be interested in the experience others have had with Kiva gear.
