Just a note to everybody that has been so supportive here - this week we crossed the 200th scholarship and $50,000 mark! We've seen a really steady uptick in growth lately, and we have all of our key members back in one city again for a big push. Thanks for sticking with us, and getting this off the ground, we're headed for much bigger and better things and it will be in no small part to the group here.

We also just launched an Education Generation lending team. If anyone here would be so kind as to associate the odd loan to our little group, it could make a real difference in opening more people's eyes to another way to help someone reach their potential. Just search "Education Generation", thanks!

Hi all - just a quick note, that $20 donations on Education Generation are being matched by a generous sponsor for the next 48 hours (max. $500 total). Good time to double your impact, thanks again for everyone's longstanding support,

Shawn

Shawn, that's great!  Does this refer to the optional contributions to operating costs, or the contributions towards funding of students' loans?

Hi Diane - this is specifically for donations to students. The funds won't be automatically matched to specific scholarship as the donation is made (system can't quite handle that), but at the end of the 2 days, the total matching amount will be applied to the next most urgent scholarships still fundraising and we'll post an update on the site.

Maybe we'll work on them for a matching operating cost donation next time! Thanks,

Shawn

Rats!  I tried to give an additional amount to one of my fundraising students tonight, but none of the payment options were working, except for "Paypal balance" -- which I do not have.  I never keep any money just sitting at Paypal.  Is anyone else having trouble with checkout at the EdGen site?

Hi all,

Pleased to announce that the full $500 match was met within the first 24 hours, meaning we raised over $1000 today - thanks to all that jumped on board! All matching funds were able to be allocated to the same student as the original donation, barring one case where that student was already completely funded. That remaining money will be donated to the next most urgent scholarships.

All donors involved should receive a confirmation email in the next day or so once the team is back at it tomorrow.

Thanks again!

Shawn & The Education Generation Team

PS Amy thanks for notifying us - sounds like it was a PayPal issue in the end and glad it seems to have been sorted out.
