I would like to see a specific RSS feed for each lender page. That way instead of adding each entrepreneur to my RSS reader I can just add my lender page and my friends lender pages and get updates on the entrepreneurs listed within that lender page.

This post reminded me of something I thought about a few weeks back.

KIVA!    would be nice to create a way for people to enroll in RSS feeds for the team(S) they join with your new program.

I don't use RSS feeds, but think I understand how they work, just passing this to the forum and KIVA as a potential idea to work on.

I don't use RSS feeds [...]

Shocked - you're missing out, good sir! Instead of having to go to a website to check if something new was posted (for example an entry on the kiva blog), an RSS reader will regularly check the feeds you subscribe to and download all new messages. You can do it right in outlook, or grab a dedicated RSS reader like RSSbandit. You then get notified as soon as new items arrive.

It allows you to easily keep track of dozens of blogs, or subscribe to specific news feeds - international news, for example - with very little effort. If you want to hold onto an entry, it's also easy to flag it so you can read it again later, or forward it to a friend.

I like the suggestion, by the way. Although, I think it would be essentially the same content that we currently get by e-mail notification - just a different method of delivery?

Yes, similar to the email notifications but I've turned off my email notifications, I'd rather have the notification via RSS and it's a good way to keep track of your friends lenders pages, or people you have invited.

Also, there could be improvement on the RSS updates too, because it says for example $300 of $600 repaid. But it could give updates on the numbers based on what you loaned.

Example:
Payment of $2.50. Total repaid $15 of $25 loaned.

I agree, it would be great to have such RSS feeds.  I also find that the email updates don't quite have enough information, a percentage repaid would be very useful, and repeating some of the loan details I sure would not hurt.

I don't use it for my Kiva emails, but for a number of mailing lists I do use http://www.mailbucket.org/ to convert the emails to an RSS feed.

I'd rather have the notification via RSS

Here are two more sites that convert emails to RSS feeds:

Since the RSS feeds on Kiva's site for sorting by New to Old and Repayment Term were not working for me, I started playing around with my own custom RSS feeds. I've created 2 feeds, in case anyone is interested in them.

EDIT: These feeds have since been updated and can be found here: http://Scott-Paterson.com/kivastuff.html

psssttt....http://www.kiva.org/rss/businessSingle?busId=277

you have to change the busId to the ID you want. This is *very* much a work in progress and is liable to change but could be some sort of useful for now.

Regarding the teams feed, a great idea and definitely something on our list of things to do.

I don't use it for my Kiva emails, but for a number of mailing lists I do use http://www.mailbucket.org/ to convert the emails to an RSS feed.

I'm going just the opposite way here. I find that the Kiva related RSS feeds don't generally get updated very often, so I'd rather receive a once-daily email if something new has been posted. At the same time, I didn't want one email for every Kiva related blog I followed... What I really wanted was any updates to any of the blogs that happened in the last 24 hours all in one email. So, I did just that.

These are the Kiva related RSS feeds that I am tracking.

Kiva.org Blog
Kiva Chronicles
Kiva Stories from the Field (Fellows Blog)
KivaTools.org
KivaB4B

If you'd like to simply see all this in a single RSS feed, you can subscribe to it here:

http://rssmixer.com/mixes/7913-kiva-net-rss-news.rss

If you want to receive it as an email, go to this web site:

http://www.feedmyinbox.com/

And put the RSS feed link above in the 'Enter a website URL' box and your email in the second box. You'll get a confirmation email to make sure you really want it and then you are all set until you cancel it.

I hope this is helpful,

Just an update to my Kiva Feeds. I've put them altogether on a single page for easy reference.

http://scott-paterson.com/kivastuff.html

They are all free to use. <Stealing concept from Christopher>If you happen to find them useful, please consider tossing one loan to the Poverty2Prosperity.org lending team as a thank you.</Stealing off>. Thank You

I will be adding more Kiva Stuff to that page!

Thanks,

-Scott
