Hi everyone!

Just a note that yes, it is already time to start thinking about Riding to Break the Cycle 2009. Applications went live last night, first deadline is October 31st.

We're accepting 50 youth (18-30), 25 for each tour, adding a route from Amsterdam to Istanbul (route subject to a bit of change) for 2009.

After 25 youth raised over $84,000 in 2008, we are going bigger and better again in 2009 and as always, need your help to find amazing people to join the tours, and to help us contact any potential hosts along the way.

Every dollar not spent on the tour goes into our Kiva lending fund, now approaching $100,000!

Thanks as always, www.globalafc.org for details, and the applications are attached below!

Hi folks,

As last year, we're most interested hear from anyone with community contacts that may be interested in hosting an event, providing a space to sleep in (floor + roof will do fine), or other ways to get involved with the tour.

May 31 - 7 weeks Vancouver to Tijuana (so anyone, in any town, on the pacific coast highway or in the major cities)

Date to be announced, 7 weeks - Amsterdam to Istanbul via Germany etc (We know no one in Europe, help us!!!)

Please get in touch if you are in any of these regions, thanks for all your support as always.

all right already - good luck - best wishes - go for the gold - but sorry, I don't live on your 'bike path' Smiley

and that's probably why no one else commented Smiley  because they felt they could not 'get involved'.

so here's some cheerleaders to take with you...   Cheerleader Cheerleader Cheerleader Cheerleader Cheerleader

and if you do happen down my way - why just drop in  Hat Wave

Thanks Jan  Cheesy

Noticed the applications have been downloaded a dozen times, and have heard from a few people privately, more of an observation than anything! Thats a lot of anonymous views, haha.

abc - No downeast Maine this year...though we've had riders and volunteers from the area! Maybe another route Wink

Europe Route is confirmed

Departing Amsterdam approx June 21, 8 weeks to Istanbul!

The always amazing Vancouver-Mexico route has a great planning team on board as well.

Feel free to post any questions - we've begun receiving applications so hopefully have a full team together in the coming months and fundraising can begin.

Cheers!

Hi all,

Just a quick note - second round applications are up, next deadline is January 23rd though we hope to fill the teams before then.

We've filled about 20 of 50 spots so far, which is amazing given everything 6-7 months away!

We're also really eagerly seeking people that may like to host events, or riders, along either route...

Thanks for the update, Shawn Smiley
I wish I was located along one of your routes.
Good luck with the applications!

I noticed that there are some more students posted at your site www.educationgeneration.org. There are students from Kenya, Pakistan and Peru who need some help with school fees. Some of them need funding by the middle of December so everyone should go and check them out! Cheesy
