Technical question:

If you have redeemed a GC to your Kiva account,
okay,
If I have redeeemd a GC to MY Kiva account,

do they or do they not send out an email
for each loan I make based on that Kiva credit?

I mean, when I spend my Kiva credit from paybacks,
I get an email.

But I got none, zip, zero yesterday, and I made
more than one loan.

What am I missing here?

Ann, I have always received a confirmation email when I made a loan, didn't matter how I paid for it.

However, yesterday and again today I made a loan and the only emails I received were for the donation portion.  I didn't get anything for the actual loan.

The loans went through because our photo is on each of the borrowers pages...

hmm...

I don't know if it is just me or if this is new general practice or just a new system issue!?

For my last two (bunches of) loans (on 17 October and yesterday, 1 November) I have not received any "Loan Confirmation"-mails (which I always liked to keep track of my loans without always going through the "Transaction" history).

Do you think it is worth reporting this to contactus? Do you all still get your confirmations?

Thanks and best wishes,
Wolfgang.

Yes, please do report this. I've not received email confirmation for weeks and weeks and have
reported it to no avail. Maybe they don't think it's important enough, but I am extremely
frustrated by this glitch.

Is there anyone who IS receiving confirmation emails anymore or is it everyone?

Hallo Wolfgang,

the last loan confirmation I got is dated 04 October. Since then they seem to have completely stopped though I have made a lot of loans after this time. As long as your Paypal transaction is ok and your photo appears on the loan site, I would not worry. Maybe it is only a way to limit the number of kiva related emails people are getting.

Cheers,
Mona

The last time I heard from anyone at Kiva about this was October 13. It seemed
like news to them. G asked me to check my spam filter (oh please) and then
said he'd mention it to the engineers. Clearly they weren't aware of it then.

No loan confirmations for me in either account since October 2nd.  I've had one really weird event happen that I've been meaning to post about too.

On October 7th there was a loan that I really wanted in Haiti. (www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=67906).  So I put it in my basket and paid for it with partial credit.  It never showed up in my basket, and I was so upset, because it was a rare loan to a rare country.  Thankfully I noticed it never showed up, and stashed another loan in my basket in case the glitch didn't get addressed via contacting 'contactus'.  Since I never heard back in a timely manner that day (didn't think I would) and fearing it would drop out of my basket I went to loan to it again when I noticed that my credit had increased to a perfectly rounded off $25.  So what had happened, instead of getting the loan, I only received Kiva credit.  This wasn't right, I most definitely went through the right procedure for the loan to be in my basket.  So because I wanted the loan, I used the credit and re-loaned to the entrepreneur, and then wrote back to 'contactus' with the information on the added new twist to my loan issue.  Yes, the loan is in my basket, but because I reloaned to it, the glitch is now a bigger glitch.  Thankfully the second loan went through without issue, and it sits happily in my portfolio.  It wasn't until two weeks later on October 20th that I heard back from Gerard saying, 'Yes, you have a paypal deposit and a loan purchase here are the transactions ..., hope that helps!'

Um no, it doesn't help, I know that is what the transactions say, but that is NOT what was actually done.  My frustration of not having the details in my emails noticed or recognized won out over battling it more.

Now after each loan, I ALWAYS go back and review how much Kiva Credit I have and if the loan has been added to my portfolio after checking out.

I am very concerned with no loan confirmations - and I agree with Eli - to go back to the portfolio each time to check.  But that's a darn nuisance.

I am also only making one loan at a time - even when I have added credit for more.  My old brain doesn't remember what it did 5 minutes ago and if Kiva isn't sending me a confirmation, then my only reminder of the name of who I made a loan to is the posting on my Facebook profile.

Is this lack of loan confirmations a policy change or somehow linked to our email preferences in our account (I have "lender messages" turned off which I assumed was just lender to lender personal messages)?  Or is it truly a bug?

There has been no loan confirmation for the last 9 loans I've made.  The last confirmation was on Oct 1st.  I too think loan confirms are very important.
