Personally I would prefer to see the layout of the Lend page put back the way it was altogether.  The options on the left side take up more room and reduce the amount of the loan profile text that is visible, and I probably will not use those options much anyway.  Once you scroll down a bit, 20-25% of the space is just not used at all.

If these new options were available through a pop-up via an Advanced Selections button, that would be the best of both worlds for me.

Yeah!  I love this idea of having a pop-up via an Advanced Selections button very much.  IMHO this would make the look of the lender page "cleaner," i.e., visually more pleasing to the eyes.  IMHO the classic version has a nicer looking symmetry to it; sort of like a yin and a yang.

* * * * *

And this makes me circle back to this:
I have also noticed that there is less of the loan profile text visible with the new layout.  That may make it more difficult to get "hooked" by the lenders story.
(Quote from David.)

When overwhelmed with hundreds of loans, the first thing that will draw me in is the photograph, be it a striking facial expression, an interesting and/or colorful background, etc.  From there, I'm invited in to want to take a closer look, i.e., to want to read the loan profile text to learn more about who this person is, what she/he does, etc.

Again, IMHO  Thank you.

A bug in the new version?

In the new version, the loan request is $1,500, but it says that $1,525 is raised so far.

Patricia, we must be thinking alike today: I had just taken a couple of screenshots of this loan, on the main Lend page and of its loan page, which I will include here.

On the main Lend page:

The loan page itself:

Thanks Diane and Patricia!  I'll file a bug report right away. :-)

Diane - thanks for the screenshots, those will help a lot with the bug report!

Interesting.  Here's one I discussed a few days ago through informal/future formal channels Wink without the fancy color code.
Someone (Diane or Engineer?) must have enhanced the display!  Roll Eyes
This particular loan self-corrected about a minute later and didn't oversubscribe again.  Huh?

I just noticed this loan  http://www.kiva.org/lend/216652  while I was browsing through the classic lend page.  When the page displays in the upper left corner, the very first thing on the screen is this text:

Quote
previous loan from Kiva " />previous loan from Kiva " /

The link to the prior loan displays correctly further down the page.

Thanks for the extra screenshot Richard!  The bug is being worked on as we speak.  Also, I believe Diane enriched the display herself. :-)

I just noticed this loan  http://www.kiva.org/lend/216652  while I was browsing through the classic lend page.  When the page displays in the upper left corner, the very first thing on the screen is this text:

Nice catch, David!  The loan description contains HTML (the link to "previous loan"), which ordinarily wouldn't cause a problem - but the META tag is also including the link, which I don't think it's supposed to do.  I noticed a similar issue with earlier loans and couldn't figure it out, but just noticed that those loan descriptions have font tags in them!
http://www.kiva.org/lend/400

So it's a similar issue there too.  I'll report both issues in a single bug report, and hopefully we can get this fixed once and for all!

Thanks to everyone for all the detailed bug reports!

It's a bit disconcerting when you apply credit to your Kiva account and the confirmation screen shows (in big letters) "Total $0.00".  You have to look at the small print to see that there was a "($xx)" change to your Kiva credit as well.

Here's the latest message I receive in IE when I go to the Kiva My Portfolio page.

To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors. Click here for options.

What it means
Some content on the webpage was being delivered using a faulty certificate. Security certificate problems might indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any information you send to the website or server. You can click the Information bar to display the content (not recommended). For more information on certificate errors, click the Information bar, then click What's the risk.

When I attempt to view Kiva's security certificate, the "View - Security Report" link is disabled, which I assume means there is nothing to view.

For some reason, in the "new-and-improved" look, the search function still does not include the borrower's "Activity", while at the same time leaving us to guess which "sector" any given loan might fall into (since it is nowhere displayed in the loan profile).
