The faulty math accounting was acknowledged and then referred to the "engineers" -- which sort of feels like the black hole.  My Account (excuse me, My Credit) is still out of balance.  Where are the Kiva accountants?

Dan

Here's some excellent news for Dan, and good news for the rest of us also.  Kiva is currently advertising for a Senior Engineer - Financial Services ( http://www.kiva.org/jobs/job-engineer-financial-analyst will work while the job is vacant) which includes the following in the "You" section: (my emphasis...)

Quote
     *  Are a perfectionist.
    * Have an innate and extreme attention to detail. You understand why a user balance that's off by a single penny is a serious concern.
    * Are driven by your curiosity to explore what problems or insights our data might unlock

that's like music to your ears, isn't it Dan?  Perhaps someone out there has been paying attention after all.     Laugh

cheers

Peter

Giving credit where credit is due, the recent "fix" the engineers applied to the accounting in My Credits (fka My Transactions) did correct all the discrepancies going back almost two years.

It was perhaps not the most transparent method of accounting, since they simply "disappeared" some of the incorrect transactions and re-posted them correctly using the current day (so a date sort will not balance correctly).

I actually manually built all the correcting reversal entries in my records so that I was able to verify that the whole thing balanced out-- to the penny.  Grin

It is good to know that they want an engineer who will value precision when it comes to the financial records of the lenders.

I'd consider applying - the "You" and "Nice to haves" describe me almost exactly - but I only have half the "musts"  Sad
