Thanks, bikeme!  I thought kiva friends would enjoy it.  I didn't catch it in the other thread, but in any case I think it's awesome enough that it should get more exposure. Grin We don't seem to have a group hug smilie, a terrible omission.  However, we do have these which will have to do.  Friends Handshake

Free Hugs Peru
We were so touch by the Juan Mann free hugs video, that we decided to bring the campaign to Peru. It was an amazing experience that we will never forget.
We are all brothers so we have to break the fear to hug each other. You should try it, itīs easier that it seems. Go for it!

Thanx, Geoff

You know, it doesn't matter how many times I watch the Free Hugs videos...

I find my smile starts, and then grows and grows as the music does...

And at the end I never fail with a tear or two.

thanx, jan  Cry Kiss

Oh, bikeme, that looks so great!  It makes me grin to see it, and get teary eyed.  I'd love to organize a free hugs day here at some point.

I have some questions about possible awkwardness that can arise on free hug day, though.

1) Do you ever get approached for hugs by louse-ridden street people who haven't showered in months?  What is the protocol in that case?  It would seem contrary to the spirit of the free hug movement to shy away from giving hugs to anyone.  Obviously those who inspire hugs the least will appreciate them the most.  But how does one avoid showing hesitancy in such cases?  Is it advisable to go for a complete delousing and deflea-ing at the end of free hug day?

2) Do any of the potential hug-ees push the boundaries of what is properly called a hug?  Must we be wary of people who mis-read our signage as "free cop-a-feels"?  And what is the proper response?  The standard knee-to-groin seems a bit harsh given that some contact, at least, was freely solicited.

3) Do the hug-ees tend to show marked preference for the youngest and best-looking huggers holding signs, and does that hurt the other huggers' feelings?  Indeed, given that most people must pass the huggers by with only a smile or wave, how does one handle the rejection?

Mona, thanks for the instructional video.  Definitely an important training gap in today's men.  =)

Aw man Geoff, that video of the Peru Free Hugs made me tear right up, very unexpectedly I might add!  Darn it  Laugh (said with a French-Canadian accent like my Dad if that can be imagined)  I'm really glad you posted that, thanks!  Smiley

I didn't mention it before, but I saw the first video in the other thread mentioned here and Tatiana, I think it's great that you posted about it again!  It feels right to have hugs become a more common sight, something that isn't so unusual after all, and doesn't it really help in developping trust among people in this age when we are so desensitized to the violence we see on TV and in movies?  Right now it seems so out of the ordinary which it shouldn't be.  Not to mention that seeing others hug freely helps those of us who are really shy to begin with (me) benefit from the experience too in a real way, even if vicariously.  I'm convinced that there have been many of those good, naturally occurring chemicals released in all of our brains as we've witnessed these huggingsGrin

Mona, though I'm not a guy, I'm convinced the video you posted is of great service to many guys, and it gave me a nice big smile.  Grin

Tatiana, all questions that many wonder about, I would guess.  It'd be interesting to hear from the huggers with experience.  Do professional or non-novice huggers exist?   Laugh
