Og,

I would also like to see a map for field partners which show the community in which each works.  Ideally it would show major towns and have shading which indicated where KIVA loans were being made.  There may be three partners in Tajikistan, but I would like a visual to see specifically where each partner works.  When I see a loan in say Mexico, often the town is very tiny.  Then I so a search on the town. If I want to know if the town is near flooding, I must also do a search on the flood region which may be phrased in a less standard way.

The shading would mean that I could see if there is an overlap of partners within a country as well.  If I want to invest in the Mayan Peninsula, then I just look at the particular partners which service that region instead of looking at each town or village.

Great suggestions, Colette!  How involved would you like to get for that cartography class, ogaboga?  Wink

Kiva already offers a "Map View" of all loans on a lender page and and all lenders on a loan page - powered by Google.  They used to include a map at the bottom of each Field Partner page, but that seems to be gone now.  It "shouldn't" be all that hard to include a Map View on the Kiva's Field Partners main or individual pages using the same Google mapping tool.

There's an FP country map in the "presentation" on page 16.

Emiliano,

It's great what you're doing. You might want to send your question directly to kiva via emailing contactus@kiva.org or through their help center. Maybe you could offer to make the finished translation available to be posted on their site.
