Hey, everyone.

I've noticed a quite a few people wishing that there were a way to be notified when an entrepreneur who we've previously lent to is requesting a Kiva loan again.  In the absence of such a feature on Kiva (and short of incredibly good luck), I thought it might be useful to have somewhere to collect the odd loans that mention the entrepreneur receiving a previous loan from Kiva.  Hopefully, we can connect a few lenders with returnees Smiley

To start off - Isatu Sesay Group

"This is Isatu Sesay, Fatu Kamara and Aminata Kalokoh. They named their group the Mathew Group. They are local entrepreneurs in the town of Makeni. This is the sixth time they’ve received a Kiva loan through SMT. Previously, each one in the group received a loan of 1,000,000 LE. That loan created meaningful impact in the lives of these people. They were able to use the proceeds to pay for their children’s school fees. They’re also able to feed and clothe themselves and their children with the income generated from the loans. Today, they are requesting a loan of 3,000,000 LE to buy more goods to add to their businesses.

Isatu Sesay (left) is the leader of the group. She is thirty-five years of age. She was born in Makeni, north of Sierra Leone. She is married with three children. Two of her children are in secondary school and one is in primary school. Her husband is a businessman who sells second-hand clothes. Isatu sells both soft and hard drinks in Makeni City.

With this new loan, Isatu will expand on her business. She will be able to buy at least twelve crates of soft drinks, seven crates of beer, three crates of Battery energy drink and three crates of power shakes. She travels to Freetown, which is 390 miles round trip, to buy the drinks. The fare to and from Freetown is 20,000 LE each, and she pays 100,000 LE for the crates of drinks she buys. So far, Isatu faces no major challenge worth noting. Business is going fine for her and she loves doing it. Her immediate goal is to buy herself a plot of land so that she can build a house. She is tired of renting!"

Happy lending.  Cheers Smiley

Having acquired a great deal of experience in processing local products with the help of their first Kiva loan, and especially having successfully managed their small businesses, the members of the TOCOSSONE 2 group of the Keur Goumak ecovillage are returning to Kiva to request a renewal of their loan.
With this loan they will be able to dynamize their businesses in: processing fruit (mangoes, papayas, oranges, and bananas) and vegetables (carrots, cabbages and turnips); processing oil; and processing local cereals.

If I am not completely wrong, here is the link to their first loan:

I am a lender on his first loan, which pays off at the end of this month.

The new loan is fully subscribed already, sigh.

The new loan is at:

I like this thread.  I will definitely be watching it, because a number of my borrowers have significance enough for me to want to loan to them again.

EDIT: The quote from Diane is over on the thread "Mortgage the House, etc"

I just grabbed at this one since we loaned to her a year ago.  Her eggs are smaller this year.  Last year they were huge.  Well, we'll have to see how this one plays out.   Huh?

Dan

EDIT: Just for the record for this thread, her previous loan was here:

Returning entrepreneur from Pakistan:
Urfa Yousaf Masih Group

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=77527

Quote
Urfa baji is a 54-year-old lady and resides in a place named Ismail Nagar, which is situated in a city named Lahore, Pakistan. She has been living in this place for the past 2 years. Her husband's name is Yousaf Masih, and he is a mason by profession. Urfa baji has no kids. She keeps herself busy making embroidered dresses. First she did this work to keep herself busy but now she chooses this activity as a profession. She charge fees per embroidered dress and her fees for each dress is $3. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy mason tools for her husband. She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Shazia baji wants a loan to buy material (beams and ropes) for her shuttering business. Zuhra baji wants a loan to buy another bike for her rented motor bike business. Dorus baji wants a loan to buy furniture (chairs and tables) for her tuition center. Bilquis baji wants a loan to buy beams for her shuttering business. This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure how to include photos.

That's funny. We are on the loan you linked to -- not the one I linked to.   Huh?
