Hi Friends,
We recognize that there is a lot of change happening with Kiva right now and that there are a lot of unresolved questions and concerns. So, we're hoping that some of you can join us for an informal KivaFriends online chat with Matt Flannery, Kiva CEO on Tuesday, Nov 25 from 4-5pm PST. The purpose of this is for Matt to be able to answer your questions in real-time as well as talk about the direction that Kiva is headed in general.
To join the chat: 1) Log on to KivaFriends 2) Go into the "Chat" functionality 3) Go to the "Kiva" room
(note: We know there are some technical issues that force you to get kicked out of the room after 10 minutes of idle activity. If this happens, please just re-join the chat.)
Thanks again for your support and your patience, Roma

For those who are not familiar with Chat:
Simply Click the "CHAT" link in the dark green bar above, this should open a new window on your computer.
When you're in this new window, you will need to change 'rooms'. This is done by clicking the down arrow towards the top of your chat screen and to the right of the words "The Lounge" and selecting the room titled "Kiva". You will be moved into the new room. This is the room Roma said Matt will be in. The chat screen will say : Welcome! You have entered [Kiva] at XX:00 pm
To send a message in chat, you place your text in the bottom open area to the LEFT of the Send Button, when you've entered your text - click Send.
I strongly suggest if you've never been in the chat room, to enter and give it a look prior to the chat session starting. I would imagine it will be busy tomorrow.

If you are inactive for 10 min. you will be disconnected from the chat, as Roma mentioned. One way to avoid this is to enter some string of text (some people use a series of 3 dots, like "...") into the chat every 5 or so minutes, if you are just listening/reading and not engaging in active communication. This will reset your 10-minute timer and you can listen for a while longer.

There might be several people who sign up tomorrow just for this chat event. In the registration process on KIVAFriends there is a space to include the correct link to your lender page on KIVA. Completing this makes the approval process much faster. Only registered KIVAFriends may enter the chat rooms.
As KIVAFriends moderators are volunteers and one will be traveling, the easier it is for us to 'approve' a new registration the better and quicker it will happen. We will do our best to watch the request for new registrations.

The chat room is now setup for the town hall thing. The timeout was extended to 3 hours (from 10 minutes). This means, every 10 minutes it will not be necessary to type "." or "..."

The following attachment is an edited version of the transcript. It includes all of Matt's comments (hopefully) and organizes them into topics, along with one or two related questions/comments.
