or where was I.....

I'll keep this brief, well, as best I can. Around October 20th, I called 911 because I was losing the ability breathe normally. I had recently recovered from bacterial pnumonia, or so I thought. The paramedics loaded me up and I remember seeing Elle and the rest of the story has been related to me because I stopped breathing and fell unconscious. Apparently I stilll had a version of MRSA Pnumonia along with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. The did a trache procedure and stuck a tube down my lungs a drained nearly 3 pints of blood from my lungs and I started breathing on my own again. I spent 20 days in an drug induced coma while they fixed me. They drained 3 more pints of blood and then gave me 4 blood transfusions. They had to keep me in a coma because everytime they woke me up I would try to pull out my tubes. On day 20 I woke calm to Elle's voice and they no longer needed to sedate me. I spent another 20 days recovering and now I am home, weak and tired but at least I'm home....

Wow!  You are lucky to be alive!  What a scary experience, and how hard this must have been on your poor wife!  I hope you keep feeling better and better every day.

What a horrible experience - for you and your family  - and welcome back!
I hope you will give yourself plenty of time to recuperate and that you have a good support network.
I know your cyber-friends will be rooting for you!

Welcome back Scott, I am sure Elle is one happy lady and your Lily is a lucky babe.

You have been missed around here.

I have a blood donor appointment booked for Wednesday morning...

I will be adding you to the list of those I think about when I am donating...

Jan (giving thanks that we live in a country where blood transfusions are so readily available)

Scott,

All I can say is WOW.  Glad you are back home, and take care of yourself while you gather your stength.

Folks, anyone can need a blood donation.  As the holidays approach, the need increases while donations drop off.  There are many very generous individuals, and a blood donation is about as personal a donation as you can make.  Blood is there for us when we need it because someone has given, and we can add to the supply.

Last month I donated for the first time.  The process was simple and easy.  My location had a smorgasbord of snacks with tea, coffee, water and juice to wash them down with.  I also was given an IMax ticket as a token of appreciation (missed a pint of ice cream campaign, but my hips are happy about that!).  I immediately scheduled to give blood again in December.  So if you are qualified to do so, please consider it.  I found the center near me by googling "blood donation" and my city name.  The Red Cross may serve near you, though.

Scott, this shameless plug is in your honor!  If it is crossing any line, strike me dead or just remove it.   I figured it was ok as am not asking for your money, just your blood.   Laugh

Colette

Gosh, while typing JAn blought up blood donation!!!! Great minds think alike!!!!

Scott,

I was just looking at loans on Kiva and spotted you.  I came straight over and here you are.  What a rough time you've had, but I'm pleased to hear that you are home with your family.  Take it very easy and get your strength back.

Sending you lots of well wishes

Hilda
