The total fund available for donation to future Kiva Friends projects is... $3,500

[ . . . ]

We (the Quilt Fund committee) will be using this thread to keep everyone informed about the fund's progress

[ . . . ]

just to keep everyone updated, the Quilt Fund has donated $800 so far to two projects ($500 Mirembe School in January 09, $300 GHAPE MIS in February 09), which leaves $2700 currently available for donations to future fundraising projects.

Of that remaining $2700, $2465 is in the form of Kiva Credit, and $235 is outstanding on the Quilt Fund's loan portfolio.  (see opening post of this thread for the loan criteria)  Of the $235 in outstanding loans, $50 is for two FSMA loans which have never received any repayments.

here's an update on the Quilt Fund committee's activities - there is now $1,650 available for future fundraisers.

$3,500 was available in the Quilt Fund when it started - see the first post in this thread for full details on that.

   $500 Jan 09 Mirembe School fundraiser #2
$300 Feb 09 GHAPE MIS fundraiser
$1000  Oct 09 GHAPE computer equipment
-------
 $1800  disbursed so far

that should leave $1700 in the fund, but unfortunately it's only $1650, because $50 was lost on two FSMA loans which saw no repayments.

The members of the Quilt Fund committee look forward to the next Mirembe School fundraiser!   Confetti

I know I'm not part of the Committee anymore - but if I were to vote - I'd say empty the fund and send it all to the school Smiley
Or as much of it as you can get turned into cash in time!!!!

and with whats left find something in Peru to give it too - I love me some Peru loans!!!!  or is that Bolivia?  them hat people!

As foreshadowed in October, and by unanimous decision of the Quilt Fund Committee, the remaining $1650 in the Quilt Fund has been donated to the current Mirembe School fundraiser!  (and this value is included in the latest total posted by Diane earlier today)

There is now nothing remaining in the Fund, which is now closed.  Actually there's 93 cents, which Kiva will be getting as a donation.

The last day of 2009 is maybe an appropriate day to wind up the fund, the quilt itself having been the star of the KivaFriends 2009 Calendar.  And the quilt's lucky owner Natasha has her birthday today!

All that remains is to repeat the thanks expressed at the start of this thread, for what was a really outstanding fundraising effort...

Quote
a very big thanks to everyone involved:

  • the quilters: Henry, Rebecca, Margie, Jane, Queen, Margaret, and Laurie
  • those who donated prizes: Henry,  Eli, Diane, Steven, Ann, Jane, Margie, Rebecca, Scott (and Elle), Jane Sladen, and Susan
  • the 34 people who entered the "raggle" - too many to mention individually, but you know who you are. The entry grid can be seen here, along with details of prize winners.
  • the anonymous donor who with outstanding generosity matched the funds raised
  • special thanks to Henry, for masterminding this great project, maintaining the raggle entry grid, devising the random draw, and receiving, accounting for and distributing the money raised

As the "quilt's lucky owner" I just wanted to say a BIG THANKYOU to all that participated in creating and managing this wonderful fund raiser. Friends
I couldn't think of a better project than Florence's school to close the fund with. Thanks again! Flowers
