Hello I'm new

When I logged on for the first time ever about a week or so ago, there was the story of a woman who needed a loan to make a tiled floor in her house.  I cannot find her again.  Does anyone know who she was?  Thanks.

Hi, and welcome here,

well, it's basically guesswork, but maybe you are referring to this loan:

Belia Esther Lopez Molina from Nicaragua:

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=76882&_tpos=8&_tpg=1

(still funding)

or this one:

Teng Yin from Cambodia

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=77230&_tpos=12&_tpg=1

(raised on 7 Dec)

If it's neither... try searching yourself: Go to Kiva's loan listings and select Status: "All", Sort by: "New to Old" and then enter "floor" (or something else) into the Search Box.

Best wishes,
Wolfgang.

Hi sinkalong,

welcome to kiva friends!  Welcome

Without any further information your question is not easy to answer, but I will do my very best.  Smiley
Here are some suggestions which loan you might have been looking for:

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=77570&_tpos=4&_tpg=1
Date Posted: Dec 10, 2008
Loan Use: To add to her savings to purchase tiles to make floor tiles for her house.

Date Posted: Dec 4, 2008
Loan Use: Changing floor in house - Purchase of ceramic tiles

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=77230&_tpos=12&_tpg=1
Date Posted: Dec 3, 2008
Loan Use: Teng would like to buy tile and cement to make a tile floor for her house.

Cheers,
Mona

P.s.: Ok, Wolfgang was a bit faster, but at least my first one is a new proposal.  Smiley

Thanks so much to all for your prompt replies.  It was, in fact, Ten Ying.  I remember her from the photo and that she was around my age, so there was a connection there.  Very grateful. Grin

However................
being entirely new to this website and not very good at computers,  I can't work out how to go about lending to the lady in question.  When i go to "lend" and put her name in the search option, nothing comes up.  Does that mean that she has been granted the loan in full already?  Thanks,  Ursula.

Hi Ursula,

yes, I am sorry, her loan request has been fully funded on 7 December, already. You can re-visit her loan page by clicking the link I provided earlier: http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=77230&_tpos=12&_tpg=1.

You can tell that her loan is not any longer fundraising from the status: "Active", and the line: "Date funded: Dec 7, 2008".

But I am pretty sure that you will find many other appealing loan requests that are still "Fundraising".

Best wishes,
Wolfgang.

Thanks Wolfgang,  I'll go back to the drawing board a little wiser.  Thanks also to Mona - will look at her other options.   Ursula.

Maybe you want to consider this loan (out of 1473, right now) that is still fundraising - while the photo is not so accomplished, it is a loan with the same Field Partner, AMK in Cambodia, and the borrower is also a 55-year-old farmer with a big family:

Chhom Penh

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=78170&_tpos=7&_tpg=1

Quote
Mrs. Chhom Penh lives in Angk village in Kandal Province. She and her husband, Mr. Touch Khuon, own land and cultivate rice with a lot of hard work to earn money. They do not have much money to support their farm. Thus, Mrs. Chhom Penh has decided to ask for a loan to buy rice seed, fertilizer, and pesticides, and to hire laborers to work on their field. She is 55 years old and the mother of five children. Two of her children are employed in garment factory, another is a farmer, and the others attend the local school.

It is a 17-months-loan, monthly repayment, with AMK, Cambodia (5*), $325 of $400 still needed, posted 7 Dec; already disbursed 21 Nov.

Should you have any questions about lending/loan selection etc., feel free to ask.

Best wishes,
Wolfgang.
