One loan at a time...

I had a loan in my basket...while I was looking at other loans it went *POOF* and disappeared. Instead I got this message -
Quote
Due to the overwhelming demand of other users, it was not possible to fulfill your loan request to Kwamina Annan. However, there are still other loans in need of funding. We apologize for the inconvenience.
It was in my basket for a total of about 10 minutes. I thought I had more time than that to check out. Is this normal?

I have occasionally had that happen recently.  I *think* what happens is that when the loan is filling fast and two people both click the LEND button at roughly the same time, the loan is put in both baskets, and if the other person checks out first, there is no longer a $25 slot for you to fund.

Hi JoanW

I had this happen about two or three times. Think about Kiva as a worldwide community. Many members see the same entrepreneurs listed on top of the list and those are the ones who are almost completed. So it can happen easily that two people decide at the same time (depending in which time zone they live:-) to lend the last 25 dollars.

The problem isn't too big since you'll find the 25 dollars in your Kiva account!

Best wishes

Michael

PS: Since I've experienced this several times, I tend to scroll down the list a bit and lend to somebody who isn't this close to 100%.

Here at the end of the day (instead of half asleep at the beginning) I see how obvious the answer is - I thank you both for your answers.

Michael - I normally have my sort set New to Old - just to miss this. Apparently today I was lucky.
