I received two similar updates from AMK. And my worries are also similar.
FWIW, distressing though these are, I note that they are both quite rare in AMK's history and seem to be associated with a particular time frame two years ago. It seems to me that around the same time there were some questions about individuals showing up in several group photos at the same time. I wonder now whether in fact these individuals were participating in multiple AMK groups simultaneously. It could be that there were one or two individual loan officers at that time who were over-aggressively signing up clients.
But, it sucks. I lost around $4; others have lost their homes. [/quote
And this shows that it can be important with enough information available regarding the loans ont he kiva website

Got this Sunday Dec 25th. http://www.kiva.org/lend/270868?_te=deCredituyo , this group loan had it's last payment of $72.20 on an expected $417.78 in June 2011. They are now 2.5 stars after being "re-evaluated" in September 2011.

Seems to be lots of this bad news / good news going around lately. My question: Does Kiva still do any kind of Default Journal or has that gone by the wayside? Greg

I just got default notices for 7 Ariana loans, and (so far) 3 loan updates, so I think they still do default journals. They just may take a bit to come in maybe. Luckily most of mine had repaid $20 or more, but at least one was only $15. I hope the borrowers are doing well and that a new partner will be available soon.

Well it has nothing to do with the lenders they payed the bad thing is that we never saw it coming payments were always in time. The only thing I feel bad about my default loans is that it most of the loans are defaulted by some kind of wrong doing by the Mfi's Those dollars don't hurt but now they make it impossible to help.

Actually, June through September the repayments were inaccurately attributed to borrowers when negotiations were taking place. There wasn't good records to know who paid and who didn't (from what I can read into the history of the field partner). Thus, Kiva is prorate repaying from some point in time. You can read the history here: http://www.kiva.org/partners/34 on October 1. Colette

I had an Afgan loan default from all this, too. Just had to share that I read "I Shall Not Hate" by Izzeldin Abuelaish so now I feel compelled to loan to Palestinian borrowers. I'll need to read that book Dressmaker next.
