I wish there was a feature where you could make a list of keywords and when those words show up in a loan listing an alert about the loans with those words would show up on your portfolio page.  It could kind of work a little like the google alerts feature works.

Lots of us have some pet things that if they show up on a loan we're likely to want to get it on it and keyword alerts would help us find them easily.  Often it's the kind of stuff tiny stuff that's way into the listing, and doesn't come up tremendously often, so it's not the kind of stuff that you would search for everyday with the keyword search function.  It may be a thing you never see listed in a loan, but if you did, you'd jump all over it.  It would be nice to have those on my front page when I check in on my portfolio.

I agree, but I'm not smart enough to design something like that. I certainly have my favorites to lend to...health providers, dairies, etc.

That is a good idea.

Unfortunately Kiva doesn't allow you to add custom widgets to your portfolio page.  But something like this could be done that would list loans matching your criteria on iGoogle or Facebook.  The new Kiva developer program makes this pretty simple.

Somehow the developer tool thing had totally escaped me noticing it being invented!  Wow!  I can imagine lots of cool custom stuff coming from that!  Yeah, it wouldn't have to even necessarily be viewable from my kiva page if it were some sort of thing (widget? is that the word I'm looking for?)that I could see from somewhere else.  Oh boy, I'm confusing myself already!

Sadly, I looked at the page for it and was at a complete and total loss.  It was WAY over my head technologically. Not only am I way underqualified to build the feature I'm wishing for, but I'm pretty sure I don't comprehend most anything on that page.   I'm gonna have to sit tight till someone with a whole lot more computer skill than I've got can make the right thingy to do what I'd like to see.

Is there a place on there (or on here, or on kiva, or anywhere?) where the things?/features?/widgets?/apps? that get developed on the developer are posted where people can see them and try them out?

I don't think there is one yet.  Kiva does have a wikipage of ideas for new apps.  But some type of repository for new apps as they are made available will surface soon, I think, as apps start to show up.
