Must confess, I had to wait again for the last bid to come out of someone's basket to get in on this loan.

Looks like she already got the money. I just love the speed of all this.

This is an update on Fatma for Sewing written by Hussien I.Ibrahim:

Thank you for your loan.  It has been disbursed to Fatma Kaild by Iraqi Al-Aman center / Kirkuk in Iraq.  We are excited to watch this business grow.  Over the next 12 - 18 months, Iraqi Al-Aman center / Kirkuk will be collecting repayments from this entrepreneur and posting progress updates on the Kiva website.

I just did a phone interview for ABC because of this Iraq loan. KIVA (Anushka) contacted me this morning and asked if I would do it.  They might want a face interview also.  I gave them this site too.

They asked how often I checked out the kiva.org site.  heh.  After I replied, they asked 'do you think KIVA is addicting?'

How often do YOU check out the kiva.org site?

Hey that's cool - good for you!

And I usually check the site several times a day, when I'm in 'loan position' or not  Wink

Grin Boy, Julia - You and I sound like clones sometimes!  I, too, just gave an interview to ABC and was told the same thing.  As for how many times I check the KIVA site, the answer is as often as I go on line - I've made it my homepage.  It's an extremely dangerous thing for an addict to do.  In fact, the only reason I saw the Iraq borrower is that I check my computer every time I come inside, and she was featured on the home page.

You both need to join Kiva Anonymous... They have a wonderful 12 loan program! Grin

Hopefully this will be another wonderful piece of press to help add more momentum to Kiva!

haha, 12 loan program!

I met with 3 other KIVA enthusiasts this week (to plan the June 6th Santa Monica event) and one of them confessed he woke in the middle of the night sometime to check KIVA.  And we all nodded.  We're going to start a Southern California support group, meeting monthly.  (seriously, we are going to start meeting regularly like they do in San Francisco.  If anyone wants to come, please email me. We don't have details yet).

I tend to be online all the time, and often keep KIVA running in a tab in my browser.  I am currently having some lending withdrawls, as I await the new Honduran loans.

TWELVE loans?    DO I need TWELVE to be an addict?  Crud, I only have 10.

(sigh)  okay, BRB.  Let me go back to the well and make two more loans so that I qualify.

Kivafriends.org scrambled and respelled is "Risk And Forgive."  Of course, it also can be respelled "Asked For Virgin" and "Darer of Vikings" and even "Vinegar For Kids" but those are a lot less interesting.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Smack a man upside the head with a fish and you have his complete attention.

We are going to hit our 50th loan this evening (hoping they add a few more options while the sun is blazin')!

Don't worry, you'll hit 12 soon enough, then you can become an addict! Wink

Okay, NOW I can sign up for therapy sessions.  Two more loans made.  Both in Samoa - - I LOVE their girl scout cookies (he he he)

An even dozen now, although I apparently missed the funding window for 9 of the first 10 - - they have been "Raised but not started" for over a week now.
