I think the repayment emails should have the name of the person instead of the business name...since the business names are so generic. Once you have a few different loans, it's hard to figure out who repaid.

Or maybe a link to the loan page directly in the email.

I actually find the business names helps 'cause many of my lenders have the same name (and its not just because I keep lending to people with my name).  Having both would be great. And a link to the journal.

And I'm going to bump it over to the Suggestions section (created after this thread began) so it gets more attention Smiley

Maybe it's unique to our portfolio, but we have a bunch of businesses named "retail" which may be the English translation of their real name but nevertheless makes them all the same.  The Borrower's name would be a nice addition.

I agree.  It can be confusing who is actually paying and a name would be helpful. Smiley

Yes. I got a repayment notice overnight saying, "Materials". Now I have to page through my Portfolio to try to figure out who made that payment.

In the same email, I received noticed that 3 Cambodian entrepreneurs had made repayments. All the Cambodian loans are noted by lender name; I know *exactly* who made those payments.

Henry,

I'm not on that loan, but make sure you have checked the box at the bottom of Kiva's "My Account" (Personal Information) page, to receive updates on the businesses you have loaned to!

You're welcome, Henry!  Even at that, it seems occasionally there is a "glitch," where these updates don't get sent out--as happened to me more than a week ago!  So, just be prepared! Smiley

I should add that these repayment e-mails--especially the "frustrating" kind with no name of the borrower attached--read something like this:

"Dear ____________,

The business you have loaned to, Food Production and Sales, has made a repayment of $38.00.  The total amount repaid up to now is $190.00.  The payment was collected and deposited by Ariana Financial Services - Mercy Corps.   This repayment will be divided amongst all the lenders who helped to fund this business, depending upon the percentage each lender contributed.  Note that you cannot actually withdraw or reloan these funds until after the loan term is complete.Comment:

Of course, here, the "clue" is the name of the MFI--but sometimes, even that isn't included!  I have a number of businesses named "Trading," for example, and sometimes it just drives me crazy, trying to figure out which one I have gotten a payment from!  Of course, it would help to add a link to the business in these repayment e-mails, as has already been mentioned under Suggestions--just as a link to the business is included in journal-entry e-mails!  Why this hasn't yet happened escapes me, but I haven't yet asked Kiva directly about it, either!
