Great work, Diane. I did put in a little note to suggest that, as with Ecuador, you might ask if there was a new MFI in prospect for Côte d'Ivoire. If that wasn't mentioned this time, could it go on the list for next week?
Howard
Yes, Howard, I either did not see it in time or somehow neglected to add it to the list, so I'll put it on the list for next week. Anyone have any other countries to add to the list of locations where there used to be active field partners but no longer? --Diane.

I too would be interested in hearing more about Bulgaria. From Dan's post in the thread Re: New Loan Countries or Countries that haven't been available in ages!!! - Bulgaria [Currently closed without an MFI Field Partner] Although Bulgaria is not currently active & posting loans, one of the 2 Field Partners, Mikrofond EAD's Fundraising Status is listed as Paused, not Closed. More than likely, the reason for this is that Kiva is waiting for any & all outstanding loans (38) to be repaid before revising the current status. However both the current Delinquency & Default Rates are 0.00%

Good job, Diane! If we can keep up this rate of clearing things up, we might run out of things to suggest in a year (or so). One question/suggestion still bangs around in my head --Hasn't Kiva heard of beta testers? We keep hearing about such and such a change would be confusing to lenders or some such -- which might be true, but then again maybe not. (And then of course we run into glitches like wrong names of donation records, which might or might not have been caught with a beta program.) Dan Wasn't the Team Lending function released slowly with something like Beta testers? I seem to recall that some lenders were asked to try it early to work out any bugs. But that is the only instance I can think of that Kiva has used anything like Beta testing. -Kerry-

Dear Diane, I noticed that at one time Bangladesh was available. Could we also look into the possibility of Laos and Bhutan? As a pretty far fetched idea I would love to sponsor a Tibetan. That maybe like reaching for the moon but who knows maybe it's possible. Bernice

Hi Diane, I too would love to see Laos and Bhutan. And I'm not sure, but way back wasn't there talk about possibly getting into Cuba? It would be so, so wonderful too if Kiva could also get into Burma and Tibet. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I dream big! ) Thank you Diane for all the great things you've done and continue to do. With respect, Patricia

Clarification:
The list I am planning to give to Liz next week is a list of countries where there has been one or more field partners already, but in which there are now none active any longer. So far Cote d'Ivoire, Bulgaria, and Chad are on that list.
I'll add an addendum with the question, "Is there work going on to identify field partners in any of these countries?" and will include all the others in that list.
--Diane.

While we can all put in our wish lists for countries we would like to see on Kiva, could we perhaps reverse the perspective for liaison purposes and instead ask Kiva if they can give us a list of where they are thinkingof/working toward? Nothing definitive as actual sign-ups. but surely they have a portfolio of possibles at any given time?
Put in the reverse, we obviously aren't going to see a new country on Kiva if they haven't even started a file on it yet.
