I'm sorry if this is started somewhere else, but I typed in "disbursal date" and "error" and couldn't find anything, but there is something WRONG with the disbursal dates on a bunch of loans right now.  I went to lend and searched by Oldest to Newest and came up with loans that say they were posted on February 10th, or March 15th, which I KNOW is wrong, cause I haven't seen many of these loans before.

Examples:
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=90905&_tpos=20&_tpg=1
Date Posted:     Feb 20, 2009
Date Disbursed:   Feb 10, 2009

Date Disbursed:   Feb 18, 2009

There are just too many to hit the notify button. Has this been mentioned yet?  Huh?

Edit: Okay, I found a hint of people talking about it on page 81 of the Concerns over Repayment, but nothing concrete.  If anyone could even steer me in a direction, I would take even that.  Just leave out the "duh.. we've been talking about that for days" part. Wink

Seems likely that the "Posted" date is the date that the MFI uploads the borrowers profile to Kiva? Not necessarily the date that lenders see it.

So the three dates (posted, disbursal and funding) do not occur in any preset pattern.

I think this could be due to the fact that each mfi has a certain quota for loan posting on kiva each month. All loans that exceed the quota can be posted in bulk at the 1st of the next month. Obviously kiva has been collecting this time at least some loans for two months before posting them. This would explain on the one hand the really high number of loans we saw yesterday (>1000) and fit on the other hand also because I noticed yesterday that some "new" loans had rather low numbers starting with 92 e.g. though we are already close to 100k.

Just my 5 cent.

Hi Amanda,

Yes, as you have seen in the other thread this has to do with the changes Kiva made last night.

I suspect that Kiva is aware of the issue, and perhaps the change was made on purpose.  What I have been doing is checking the notice on the bottom of the funding box which states "29 days left" to see when the loan became available to lenders, which for most loans was no earlier than March 31st.  But I agree, it is another confusing thing on the loan pages and I also would prefer this be restored to the availability of the loan to lenders date.

Yes, if you click on Date Posted, Kiva tells us "This is the date that the loan request was posted to Kiva by our Field Partner." So it probably took a few weeks for Kiva to translate it, etc., and actually post it on the website.
