These are just a bunch of ideas brainstormed whilst making lunch. Feel free to hack, criticise, ignore...!
1. Organise an open air concert - invite new bands to play on the proviso that they donate their fees to Kiva.
2. Seems to me that there's a lot of overlap between Kiva and Fair Trade in terms of their overall goals. Groups interested in one are likely to be interested in the other. Perhaps Kiva now has the clout to approach the people who promote Fair Trade and collaborate on their marketing efforts?
3. Exchange links with Ashoka,
http://www.ashoka.org/ - social entrepreneur network.
4. Maybe Google can be persuaded to set aside a "Microcredit/People Power" day - they've just done Earth Day. The microcredit movement is gathering pace - more and more people aren't willing to sit around waiting for governments to act.
5. Create an addictive Flash game (or series of games) - brand it with Kiva and put it out there... I'm sure there are clever people out there who can create a "Sim City" or "Theme Park" type game (earlier versions, not the later, sophisticated ones).
6. Adopt an animal - (Kiva is a nice name for an elephant or dolphin, I'm sure) - and as the donor, list the Kiva website.
7. You should promote
http://shop.kivafriends.org/index.php more on your site. I didn't even knew it existed until today and I had just spent a lot of money with Amazon, directly.
8. Offer t-shirts for free to people who donate more than $50 - not as a "thank you", per se, but it's good advertising.
9. Me and a friend recently bought a billboard pitch at auction. 365 day advertising, 24/7 without further costs. Perhaps Kiva can do the same? It's pricey but it pays for itself quickly.
10. Send information packs to celebrities. Only takes one mention on Oprah and you're made...
OK, lunch is ready...
Cheers
Jake
