I got asked to participate in a Kiva survey today.  Here is what the invite said:

Dear Kiva User,

We need your help to make Kiva an even more rewarding experience for our users. We'd love to learn a little more about you and to understand what other sites, besides Kiva, you enjoy. Please take 5 - 10 minutes to take our short survey. Your participation is appreciated.

Your responses to this survey will help us learn more about what social applications and features we should build on our site to encourage additional lending to our entrepreneurs.

Here is a link to the survey: [deleted unique link based on email address]

When I went to the survey, it took me through a bunch of appropriate questions, even allowing some comments.  But when I clicked on "done" it sent me back to a question which it said required an answer.  Here it is:

2. Which of the following interactive applications do you use online? Choose any that apply.

Fantasy Sports (Baseball, Football, etc)
Yahoo Games or other games sites
Digg/Reddit
Facebook / MySpace or other Social Network
Second Life / Gaia / etc.
Others? (Please specify)

Under "Others" was a blank in which I put a comment.

Unfortunately it wouldn't let me finish the survey without choosing one of the preselected choices.  So if you don't participate in one of those, I would suggest you skip the survey.  Certainly locks out a certain type of lender in whatever results they get!  Pissy

Was I the only one who got the survey, or is it just that I am the only one who couldn't select one from their predetermined list of social network sites?  Undecided

Gee, Twitter wasn't one of the options on the required question #2 in the email/web version.  I wonder if the Twitter version of the survey was different?

I followed the survey link on Twitter - not much to it - but they really seem to want people to enter into competitions.  It might be possible to gain lenders by offering *inducements* but I would not be one of them.

I basically told them that life is not about win/lose but how you play and the only time I can be *motivated* by another to make a loan is when the *reason* for lending makes sense to me.  Not just because I need to *beat* another person/team etc.
