Time flys and folks are so busy that sometimes it doesn't really sink in in real time how long you've been at it. There should be some sort of email or message on your portfolio when you have an anniversary. I bet there's a lot of folks like me that it would really be inspiring for to see how much of a difference they've made already at each year's milestone mark.
That's an excellent idea, I think, for Kiva to give their lenders the feeling that they matter to them and to the borrowers.
(1) Annual mails on anniversaries of signing up with a break down of how many entrepreneurs they helped during the last year etc. Also annual reminders about funds "left" in their accounts.
and possibly
(2) Congratulatory mails on reaching certain loan milestones (like: 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000...).
I know that lenders with just 1 or 2 loans in their portfolios also matter (and that relatively few Kiva ever lenders reach the 3-digits-count) and that many of the big lenders don't really care for this kind of attention, but I still think that some recognition for those lenders that keep coming back regularly and form a backbone of the lender community would not be inappropriate.
Best wishes,
Wolfgang.
