This might have been covered somewhere already, but don't forget that many employers (especially the larger ones) will match their employees gifts/donations to 501(c)(3) non-profits. In the case of my employer the match is dollar for dollar up to $1,000 per year.

While loans to borrowers do not meet this criteria, a donation to Kiva, (as a 501(c)(3) non profit), would. So if you are going to be making a donation to Kiva anyway, you might as well check with your employer to see if they have such a gift-matching program. It is usually as simple as your filling out a little paperwork and send it with your donation.

My company will match contributions to 501(c)(3) organizations, but if I made my Kiva.org donations through the Paypal route when lending money, can I send in the form to the Kiva offices after the fact so they can attempt to get the matching funds?

That is such a good idea. My company will also match, so I too would love to know what the procedure would be in this case. And if we can send in the paperwork retroactively for 2007 donations, I will definitely do that.
