At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day, while 75 million children worldwide are not in school. By pooling surprisingly small investments, we can help to significantly improve educational access and economic development. It’s called The Small Things Challenge, and partnering with Kiva and Save the Children, it’s a campaign based on the premise that every small action can make a big difference to ensure quality education and economic opportunity for all. We challenge you to join us in becoming a part of the solution. When you click on the link below, Intel will donate 25¢ per click for you to help.

I just noticed today that the home page for the challenge now features a thermometer-like graph...
showing this quarter's goal of 300,000 is sitting at only 15000...

John and I both have it as the default home page for our browsers...
Anyone else out there think they can click more often?
We're also trying to get our friends on Facebook and Twitter to join in...

I also have it as my home page. And I have been meaning to post about it here but I haven't gotten around to it. I click as much as I can!

As the number on the page was still on 15,000 today I have sent an email to Intel to find out how often they update it. Here is the answere I got within one hour (!):

"Dear Ms. Lichtenthaeler,

Thank you for your note and support of Intel's Small Things Challenge program.  The counter on the small thing challenge program web site provides a reference gauge for the program, but due to budget limitations is not updated real-time.  It will be updated manually every two weeks.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks,
Lana"

So looking forward to see what we have reached in two weeks from now on. Click away!  Thumbs Up

It shows as 4,9 for me.  I assume that is meant to be 4 and 9/10ths written in some European format.  Does that mean someone changed their mind partway through a click?  Or only clicked on the very side of the button?

For the facebook users of you: The smallthingschallenge can now also be used as an application on fb. Though this will also only lead you to the original Intel site I think it is a great way to advertise this program. And if you have added the application also to your profile you can follow the number how many clicks have been done in honor of you  Smiley:

--------------------------------
"We are very excited and pleased to announce the arrival of Just Click It! the application that lets you raise much needed revenue for two vitally important organizations, Save the Children and Kiva! Just Click It! opens the Intel Small Things Challenge Page. Each click on the Orange Bar generates 25¢ divided between Kiva and Save the Children, for up to $300,000 this year!

Just Click It! shows the last three people who have clicked on the application in your name, and counts the number of times it's been clicked on by you and your friends! But they will have to install the application in order to participate. So please use the "Invite Friends" feature at the bottom of the application box.

Together we have the potential to make a major impact on the lives of the people Kiva and Save the Children serve. So, Just Click It! A child is waiting."

Wow, seems the facebook application is working wonders! Only 14 days gone of this quarter and already 19% of the aim reached!  Shocked
If you have a facebook account and did not add the application yet please click on http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=103020373339 and add it to your profile so that many many people will get aware of this and click it.  Smiley

If you have added the application after the first time I posted this please make sure that it is still running. They had to change something of the app recently so it might have gone. So if you want to be sure please click also once again on the link in this post. Thanks!  Thumbs Up

Wow, the facebook application really made a difference! Here is the update I got today:  Yahoo!

"We have reached Intel's quarterly goal of 300,000 clicks! That's $75,000 for Kiva and StC, thank you! It will no longer be necessary to click again until the new quarter begins October 1."

With the help of all those great people we have reached this milestone nearly 2 months earlier than planned!  Thumbs Up
