Hello fellow friends,

I am posting here on behalf of my girlfriend, Dalia, who is currently a Kiva fellow in Togo.  She has been there since late April working with Microfund Togo.  You can read about her time and work there on her blog, Lo De Dalia.  She has a small request that she would like to make in order to help the MFI out.

As you can see from the top left-hand corner of her blog, she is in the process of trying to buy two new motorcycles for the field officers of Microfund Togo.  They have to ride out to the remote villages where the clients are over dirt roads and worse.  Currently the only good motorcycle they have is the one that they send her out on.  Dalia is going to buy one motorcycle with her own money, but she would like help with buying the second one

If you would like to help by making a donation, please click the "Make a donation" button on her blog.
She has already raised around $600 from friends and family, so there's only a little bit left that's needed.  Once the $820 that is necessary is reached, we'll take down the donation link and any further Paypal transactions will be refused.

Dalia can post pictures of the new motorcycles on the blog after they are presented to the MFI.  To be clear, these are outright gifts; neither the money nor the motorcycles are being lent

Her internet access is limited, but both she and I can respond by email to any questions and concerns you may have.

Thank you so much for your support.

Thanks for the link to her blog.  And for letting us know she's in need.  I threw in a few bucks for a bike.  So I'm kinda part-owner of a motocycle in Togo.  That's neat Smiley

Tongue Me too.  I hadn't noticed this topic before, and I have an interest in Togo since meeting a Kiva lender from Togo who lives and works in Madison.  Found the motorcycle topic by checking your profile page, Fred.  Thanks.

Glenda,

After seeing some of the pictures on her blog, I can see why a motorcycle would be a good way to get around, and it would be a gas saver too. Dalia won't be there much longer, so I hope she raises the money quickly. Since I didn't donate a lot, I told her I'd donate again, if more people didn't chip in soon. She told me her Dad was keeping the records for her, but she thought they were getting close.

I have a friend at work from Ghana, right next door. I didn't realize all of the power outages both countries have. He said Ghana provoides part of Togo's electricity.  I've had great loan paybacks from both Togo and Ghana, from Micofund Togo, and The Kraban Support Foundation.
