I dont think the kind of boasting you are talking about would transpire as it would truly be in bad forum. I was thinking more along the lines of enterprise development stats and mainly for organizations to use for planning; not personal egos -etc...

I agree with miGirls last post in regards to this.  I've recently become an addict as well, eat sleep and spread the word at the moment.  I plan to have alot of $25.00 loans, my reasoning behind this is I want a high percentage of loans to get paid back.  I would be dissapointed if I used the money I have for KIVA to loan to 2 or 3 and then have some defaluts.  This could take my joy away.

For some strange reason, I wish that people in 'KIVA friends' only were forced to show their 'lender page' this way only active KIVA could be here.  Am I selfish?

oh...and one more question for the newbie....when i go to KIVA Friends and see the names of people online, i'm always first on my screen.  Am I doing something wrong, have I been online since i started? or what is the method of how those names show up in what order.  Cause I hate holding up the line.

OK, I think i just sunk another inch, so i better hope for an answer soon.  Be well all.

p.s.  how long will this KIVA excitement last?

oh yeah....anyone thought about creating a KIVA chat room on here?

Come to second life, we can all 'chat' there, and get others involved.
Its free, you just need an updated computer.

Let me know if you need help setting up.

You can see KIVA MAN in second life,

SADLY! this is how bad it is ..(*the addiction*) my computers video card is not capable of second life, found that out when second life was announced. Never really had the desire until now to buy a tomato and smush it on my head.

I guess it's off to bestbuy or circuit city to get a new computer so i can reach even further into the depths of KIVA.

Sigh, well I've now bought 2 video cards and a new computer just to get into Second Life without crashing.  It really is worth it though. So far I have met and introduced KIVA to many people. I have a KIVA blurb on my 'profile' so people can see it and they ask me questions and I've taken a few back to the KIVA friends hangout to show them more info. A few of them have come back and said they were lenders.

So we have a platform where we can easily talk to people, and answer their questions.  I'm hoping we can get enough KIVA friends to be in second life so we can start 'office hours' or volunteer hours, so people can know to come by and talk to us.

Second LIfe is also great if you're sitting at home and really want to tell people about KIVA.  You can walk around and talk to people in this virtual world.

So we're going to have a big party in Second life next week or so, hope you all can make it. We'll help you through the process if you are not so computer savvy.

Come join with Joe & Ramon and I!  And you'll get to meet Fiona from Kiva when she starts the Monday meetings again.

Emily's family makes me smile everytime I see them giving (which is frequent).  They are an inspiration--an encouragement to keep giving.  Giving is something that brings the Kiva community joy.   Giving, at least for me, has always been pretty anonymous and sort of a lonely calling.  My observation is that givers are private and usually don't call attention to themselves.  They  don't want people to know when they give.  But Kiva is different.  You can give and still be pretty anonymous.  When I see others give it encourages me and brightens my day.
Keep up the good work.

Julia-- can you elaborate on Fiona's Monday Meetings? Where, what time (Linden Time or EDT please), and what's her SL name?

For those who don't know who Fiona is-- see here and here. She's Kiva's Communications Manager. Yet another reason to join us in Second Life-- speak to a Real Kiva Employee...

Thanks a bunch,

I'd also like to know about "Fiona's Monday Meetings". I spend a non-zero amount of my work time in Second Life and would love to show up to meet others and brainstorm.

Hello,

Two questions.

1. Am I missing something? or is the only way to view all the lenders profiles is to go to each loan and click on each lender. I'm looking for a way to go through and see all the public ones. I like reading about the lenders almost as reading abut the borrowers.

2. Has it been determined who has the most loans? I know Kay has a lot (bless you) and Emily's family has a lot (bless them). I'm just curious if there's others out there w/ similar numbers.

Thanks everyone.

Scotty and Peg

PS. It makes me so happy to see people that can afford to give, giving a lot!

Paypal's off line... whew! I was about to fall off the Kiva Loan Addict wagon (again). Trying to go a week without making a loan... Maybe just one more!!!?Huh? Then I'll not make any more until July, I promise. Really.

Is it Girl Scout Cookie season? Maybe I could quelch my Kiva Loan Addiction with a box of Thin Mints disguised a charitable giving?
