What do you all think of the redesigned field partner pages on the Kiva site?
I am impressed with the amount of new information available.
The thing that is most interesting to me among the new information is the average interest rate that each of the MFI partners charges their clients. The Kiva average of 13% was less than I thought it would be.
One more thing that I note is that Kiva is now reporting that 0.07% of loans have defaulted. That is $1,015.

I love them! Really good information. Now I have a question that I assume has an obvious answer, but I'm not 100% certain:
If a loan you helped fund isn't paid in full and goes into default, you'll still get back what credit you have from the payments they have made up until then, right? Does Kiva send out notes saying "so and so has defaulted but we collected this amount in repayments which is now available as credit"? The old "something is better than nothing" way of looking at things. The reason I'm not 100% certain is because I remember reading somewhere about how if a business defaults, then loan is then considered a "donation".

Way cool! That $1,015 all seems to be coming from Village Enterprise Fund. Unfortunately, the "Default Rate" doesn't seem to add up. VEF and "All Kiva Partners" are reported at "0.07%". I can't seem to be able to duplicate their math no matter which way I guess at how they came up with it.

Samantha, You should get back your percentage of the loan, on any repayments made. I think what you remember reading is, the money lost cannot be claimed as a donation for tax purposes, since it was intended as a loan.

Hey everyone
This is matt from kiva
the VEF default rate should be higher than the total kiva default rate since they are the only partner with a default. we will fix that bug in the next few days sorry.

@Matt: hey, welcome to the forum! It's great to see a celebrity like yourself here. Thanks for all your efforts, ideas and energy. I'd nominate you for "person of the year".... As of today, I'd say there are 6,527,785 reasons for that...

Just wanted to mention that I manually add those Kiva Staffer tags at the left I hope I've gotten everybody. If you work for Kiva and have an account here, just send me a message and I'll add the tag under your nickname. Back to the topic, the new stats and information is great. I love seeing little tweaks here and there on the Kiva site.

Matt, I'll second Ramon's nomination. Kiva was a fantastic idea, and you've done a great job with it. I hope you'll post here often. Fred
