I don't see anything on the Kiva blog yet, but this announcement was posted today on Nick Cain's blogKiva in the News
An exciting announcement from the people at Kiva who make it all happen:
“There will be a big Kiva announcement on Good Morning America and ABC World News on Wednesday, June 10th!
Make sure you tune in to watch the Kiva segment in the second hour of Good Morning America, and the follow up on ABC World News . To find out when Good Morning America and ABC World News air in your area, check your local TV guide.
On radio, we have 2 BBC interviews and 1 (maybe 2) NPR interviews. They’ll likely be Wednesday too.”
Keep an eye/ear out for this. I can’t share what the announcement is, but I can definitely say it’s big news for anyone interested in our work and in microfinance in general. -Kerry-

"Our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons, and our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity - men and women - to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice. That is why the United States will partner with any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams." - President Barack Obama, June 4, 2009

Now, I have a very distinct guess what that announcement will be... and it isn't Kiva going Wall Street (well, at least not with the usual meaning of that). Anyone else? Best wishes, Wolfgang.

SPOILER ALERT: Don't click on the following links if you want to be surprised, but I'm speculating these videos may be related to the big announcement. http://minurl.org/OU3Jhttp://minurl.org/ofYThttp://minurl.org/GmAVhttp://minurl.org/2n0Chttp://minurl.org/IhfOFor the record, I don't have special access to this information. It was sheer serendipity that I found it floating around in the vast hyperspace known as the Internet. For the benefit of other readers, you may want to avoid direct reference to the content of these links, but simply acknowledge whether you agree/disagree that they are related to the big announcement. Regards, Ronan

Sure agree, Ronan - thanks! Confirms my guess, too. Best wishes, Wolfgang.

After seeing those videos I can see how Kiva could really be a business advertising platform..... Although I guess not TOO effective since once your loan in funded, most people will never see it.

Here's my full disclosure on how I encountered the videos:
They are located on the Twitter page @Kiva_Journals. The information provided on the "Tweet" will raise an eyebrow, even if the link is now marked private. (Hint, hint: If someone at Kiva controls this page, you may want to delete these tweets.)

For some reason I'm reminded of this Chevy ad campaign from the 50's & 60's Both ironic & apropos simultaneously We used to sing a slightly different version growing up: See the USSR in your armored car....
