Question: Having loans to citizen's of the world's richest country funded by Kiva members is:
Taking money from the pockets of entrepreneurs in the third world and should be stopped with immediate effect.
A good idea, as it doesn't matter where you live, if you can't access credit, you can't access credit.
Don't know yet.

So while I do think he can have an opinion, and while it is not one I share, I did in fact delete him and all messages pertaining to his spam from the Agriculture Team.  I encourage other team-captains to do the same.

It is amazing how quickly we all come together.  Thank you all.

I have sent my own personal official complaint as a lender to Kiva regarding this spamming.  If he would join for the purpose of being on a team then I would say he had a right to speak but what he is doing is against the TOU.  (I didn't know he was a part time nurse - wonder if he could fill in for me on my day off?)   I would encourage everyone to send Kiva an official complaint.  Jane

I see Ian has posted - good on you - answering him is fuel to his fire - but it's also good to discredit him in the eyes of those he has contacted.

I actually just PMed him rather than posting in our team messages.

If I had answered him in the team messages he would have to respond to me there too (as it isn't possible for him to get my address to PM me) and I didn't want the team message board to be swamped with messages pro/anti USA loans - that issue has nothing at all to do with our team's raison d'etre.

Laugh  Sverre joined the Late Loaning Lenders team, but dropped out without posting his message.  I guess he decided it wouldn't go down too well in that team!

Ooops, sorry if you're on one of the teams where I replied to Sverre - I just don't like people who try to BULLY others into doing what the bullies want to do and had no intention of starting a 'flame war' but wanted to present an opposing opinion. Also, I've been working with the "online world" for many years and know that more than 90% of Internet users do not scroll down - so by posting a long-ish message to Sverre, it pushed his posting below 'screen level' and perhaps made it less effective.

This whole HATE CAMPAIGN boggles my mind! And getting a spam about how wonderful the business conditions must be in the USA from a guy in Norway boggles it even more - anyone who has worked with homeless people right here in the good-old-RICH-United States will know that there are plenty of people who do NOT have access to housing, good medical care, jobs and/or whatever - there are lots and lots of children who go to bed hungry every night and yet there is this hateful attitude that seems to think people are poor because they have chosen that life - far from it but try to convince them of it!!

Anyway, I'd love to introduce Sverre to some of my very-hard-working community college students who are struggling with life and would dearly love to start their own business if only they could find a loan source - I keep current on this topic because I teach Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, among other classes, and add my students' experiences to what I've seen in research literature. The MAJORITY of small business startups in the USA are funded with personal wealth and/or loans from the Bank of Mom & Dad - great if you happen to HAVE personal wealth or family/friends who have enough personal wealth to share - but for the rest of those who want to start a business?? Well, let's see, hmmmm.....not a lot of options!! Even people with a proven record and excellent credit are finding it difficult to get funding to keep their business afloat, including businesspeople who never had trouble before!!

I know I'm "preaching to the choir" with most of you but if there is anyone naive enough to think it's easy to break the cycle of poverty in the USA, I'd like to take them on a little tour of "the other side" of Wealthy Orange County. Grrrr indeed!!

Hello linaka,

A belated  Welcome to Kiva friends!

I personally felt your reply was just fine, and I hope he actually took the opportunity to read your message before he either got dropped from or quit those teams.

Glad to have you here!
