I am on Twitter!!! Grin I was wondering if anyone else here was on Twitter, or is planning on joining. I have a couple friends on there and I follow a few entertaining celebrities that I am a fan of, and it is good fun. It sounded strange to me at first, the idea of just sharing what I was doing in 140 characters or less, but it is actually really awesome! I often post links to the loans I get in on there, hoping my followers will get hooked on Kiva and also because it answers the question, What are you doing?. I also follow Kiva and Matt, as well as some other non-profits that I care about. Education Generation and Heifer is on there, along with Charity Water. I would be more than happy to see any of you there on Twitter. My account is locked for privacy but anyone here who asks to 'follow' me will definatly be accepted.  Wink As I said, it definatly sounds strange at first but it gets to be very addictive, and don't we like things that are addictive?  Grin I'll provide some handy links, in hopes of luring some of you in. Cool

I am also on Twitter.  If your Twitter updates are not protected, people can openly read and then link (retweet) what you have posted, or if they do searches on key words, like Kiva, then your Kiva-related Tweets will show up too.  My advice: don't worry about who follows you, but choose who you follow with more care.  Have fun saying what you have to say in 140 characters or less

Been debating about Twitter for some time....joined, but kept the account closed. Matt's announcement brought me back, and I have been following a few others the past week or so...it IS fun!

After a meeting of Kiva Japan today, we discussed using Twitter as a way to spread Kiva in Japan...I just went to my settings and opened things up. Will be interesting to see what happens.... Grin

mine is http://twitter.com/rinkuhero -- i mostly talk about game development rather than kiva, but occasionally use it to promote the indie game developer kiva team to other game developers; feel free to add me and i'll add back

Thanks for all the twitter addresses.  I was following some of them, but this list is great!  Thank you so much.

I am on twitter and don't post very often, but I love to get updates from others!

I remember that Kiva Fellow Sloane (she is an amazing person - ck out her site http://www.thecausemopolitan.com/ she is tireless!!) tweeted a pic that showed a monitor in the main Kiva office area that had all Kiva-related tweets show up live as as they sent...

http://twitpic.com/5fnx0

so, I imagine that someone at Kiva might be reading my tweet when I hit send...  They might have removed it now... who knows?

Matt tweeted the following tonight:

"We've always resisted whitelabeling because it would cost more than just starting from scratch imho"

What does "whitelabeling" mean? Anyone?

White Label

"A product or service, especially common in the in the financial sector, where the provider of the service purchases a fully supported product from another source, then applies its own brand and identity to it, and sells it as its own product. The purchaser assumes the seller is selling its own product. "

Thanks very much for the definitions, Judy! It's clear now that Matt was saying that instead of buying technology of the shelf and implementing Kiva on that, it was cheaper and better to write their own services from scratch. I couldn't agree more. I think they've done a superb job implementing P2P lending all on their own.
