Will KIVA begin seeking partners who are making loans to people in the country of Israel?  I would like to fund loans that helped out Israeli families.

If we can lend to Americans, we should be able to lend to Israelis as well.

Part of the issue is whether there are MFIs working in a given country.  Are there Israeli microbanks that you would suggest Kiva partner with?

MIX Market does not show any MFIs working in Israel.

Of course their data only goes through 2008 so some new MFIs may have begun in '09.

Or Kiva may find some MFIs that do not report data to MIX.

Thanks for the replies back Nickolas and Richard.  Yes, there are a number of MFIs in Israel.  A quick search on the MIX site brings them up.  However, I got a nonreply back from the KIVA staff when I wrote them about it last June.  It was a form letter thanking me for my "interest" in KIVA, etc.  Weird.

I think awhile back Kiva was in a passive mode, evaluating partners which approached Kiva.  It didn't pursue MFIs because it probably it didn't have the bandwidth to find new partners.  And it seems as if we are oversupplied on loans for hte time being.
