Any interest in creating Kiva commercials? Even if they're web-only, they could be interesting promotional tools.

I picture a simple "slide show" type of clip with soft music in the background.

The script could be as simple as:

[picture of a Kiva business]

$200 to _________ in _______.

[picture of a Kiva business]

$500 to _________ in _______.

[picture of a Kiva business]

$675 to _________ in _______.

etc etc.

"Thanks to people like you".

Then ending with Kiva's logo and "Do Good", along with the URL.

Stuff like that can be uploaded to YouTube and spread like wildfire.

I think we should hold a You Tube contest (to the Youtube community) and offer Kiva gift certificates to the winners.  That will generate many ads.  And lots of publicity!

Steven Colbert kind of did this when he made a blue screen of himself pretending to fight an alien, and had people edit it and make thier own video. I think he had thousands of responses.  And there was no money reward.

It seems youtube has a whole page just to put your contest.  Guess they thought it was a good idea too!

http://www.youtube.com/contests_main

Some of the prizes are very high ($25,000) but they want people to do videos on boring things like TurboTax.  I think people will want to help Kiva and will do it for a lot less.

I think the winner getting $100 (4 gift certificates) is a great prize and people would do it for that.  We could probably raise that amongst ourselves for a May 1 contest deadline.

We just need some rules and judges. Neither things I'm particularly good at.

Since I have not yet bought a gift certificate, tell me if this is right: you buy it and send a number to the person and they need only the number and your email to redeem it. If that's true I'll be glad kick in $25 in April for this and I could be a judge or whatever is need be.

I do videos for podcasts but in the case of Kiva, I feel you'd need to have actual footage. I'm not ready to fly to Uganda just yet, although I'm closer to it than most of you Smiley Hmmmm, could do slides and original music, but who has the images? Can we get them from Kiva?

If you go to youtube and search 'Kiva', you find a few from Honduras. There is a women speaking English in it, I am totally guessing that it might be Jessica.

I didn't go through many last night, I was so facinated with the tortilla making and such I kept watching that.

I have no idea if these clips can be used or where they are from.

Yes, all they need is the Gift Certificate code and the email address of the person who purchased it.

I'd also be happy to chip in $25.
