OK.  Has this been started yet?  Who is in charge?

In the past I have worked on quotes, but I am declaring a term limit so someone else can do it.  I may be persuaded to do something else though.

Colette:
The people who volunteered for the project are Charmaine and Christopher.  There was a link somewhere on Kiva Friends that showed the "limited" number of pictures available.  By limited I mean 5 or 6 of the same lady and about an equal number of one other person.  When I find the link, I will post it here.  (PS. I already bought and have next years calendar from Current.  One look at the pictures available told me what I needed to do.)  Jane

What does this mean?

I am willing to offer some of my photos from my trip to Peru for the calendar, if they would be desirable.  Perhaps others have photos from trips to other areas where Kiva has field partners, to augment borrower photos?

My apologies to my non-USA friends.  Current is a company here in the USA that makes note cards, greeting cards, calendars, wrapping paper etc.  They have good quality and reasonable prices.  That is where I have gotten my calendars before.

Diane, I know Charmaine was waiting for someone from Kiva to get back to her & you on one of your KF Liason calls.  Then Liz left and things have been busy with currency risk and the "USA loan uproar."  Charmaine is now in the USA visiting family.  I know she has limited computer time so I think she was waiting for someone to get back to her.

So Plan A, pictures of Kiva borrowers, is not really feasible. Last year we came up with Plan B, photos of the quilt squares.  We don't have a new quilt to work with at this point.  So we are trying to figure out a Plan C?

So past suggestions include:

1.  Lenders
2.  Kiva Fellows
3.  Partners
4.  Silloette of borrowers
5. Stock photos
6. Photos of businesses without people
7. Country  information
8. Vacation photos of the countries Kiva is in

A whole other approach which might be interesting...offer art students of high school or college age a chance to compete for a nominal Kiva gift certificate.  It could be considered a scholarship/honorarium and something to put on a resume.  It would highlight Kiva's mission, and increase sales (all the kids' parents would buy them to show off!).  I envision categories similar to the borrower photos.  It would partially be about quality of the artwork, emotional appeal, representative of a country and balance of business type.

I know there isn't a lot of time to pull 12-13 artworks together, but it is the way things seem to go with the Calendar Project.

Colette, I think this is a super idea!  Someone could pull together the wonderful photos that have been nominated over the years as a resource for the artists, and they could use those or other photos for inspiration.  There are Campus Kiva programs at various colleges (and maybe some in high schools) that might be tapped to help motivate this project.  I would be happy to donate 5 gift certificates to use as prizes for the calendar art project if there's time to implement this idea.  What's the deadline to get things to the printer?

Marsha,

Campus Kiva was a part of my thinking as well.

Cal Poly came up with a pretty neat t-shirt design for Kiva.  Here is a link (I think): http://campuskivaslo.googlegroups.com/web/Banner.pdf?hl=en&gda=3JCmADwAAAAUfeI1xq1YZF7fcAv2R8z7AdQ9oZvhfGa2jEOAtwBzRigbxs7FN-M0AtDgpWIlI2H9Wm-ajmzVoAFUlE7c_fAt

Please note, all rights reserved on the artwork by artist or as assigned.  Not to be copied without permission.

Alternatively, the winner could get $25 worth of calendars (including shipping cost), and someone could sponsor that.  This would ensure that calendars got into a LOT of hands.  We could also ask if the calendars could be placed in local bookstores/college bookstores.
