Hi all,

I did a quick Excel exercise this morning based on my portfolio, and out of the 18 active loans, there is only one that is "late", i.e. 1 month overdue. This could also be the case because the MFI hasn't reported it yet, so no need to panic or blame the borrower!

Also, the graph assumes a linear payback; i.e. the same amount of principal every month. Several of my loans, especially the agricultural ones in Ecuador, don't do this. Still, they have been paying back linearly Smiley. Remember, this is a snapshot of the situation as of this morning.

Warning: the following graph is for entertainment purposes only Smiley

Very nice. It is data like this I think Kiva's portfolio should provide for members and the public if the member chooses to make it viewable to all.

Here is a weird one. I gave to this guy the day his profile appeared, 6/14, it was disbursed on 6/18, and today (6/21) I just got the first repayment. That's got to win some sort of speed record.

Maybe he found he didn't need all the money he requested, and returned the remainder right away rather than having it burning a hole in his pocket?   Huh?

It would appear that often people use their loans to make the first payment......or so it seems. Huh?

It could also be that he bought things for lower prices than expected.  Or the exchange rates were different than expected (we loan dollars but they get local currency).  Or the loan happened to fund when clients were to pay their bills, so he didn't need as much of the loan as he had thought.  One thing, at 1% interest it isn't likely that he paid it back to avoid paying interest!
