Hi Kiva Friends,
As a former Kiva Fellow and Englishman, I've always been bothered by the fact that most of the Kiva events happen on the other side of the pond. "No wonder hardly anyone in the UK has heard of Kiva", I mutter bitterly to myself.
But I shall mutter no more... because on August 15th I am helping to organise a Kiva fundraiser in London!
After the highly successful Go Game fundraiser in San Francisco (read about it
here), Kiva and The Go Game are teaming up again for a community game in London with proceeds going to Kiva (and/or the Kiva Fellows Programme).
"What is a Go Game?" I hear you say. It's a kind of hi-tech treasure hunt somewhere in London that involves pubs, puzzle solving, finding secret actors, staging creative photos and videos, and all wraps up with a hilarious multimedia presentation where you get to vote for your favorite teams. Check out the write up of the first London community game for an idea of how it will go down
here.
How you can help:
1) Take part! It will be a fun and different way to spend your Saturday afternoon, you'll get to see parts of London you haven't seen before and London will probably get to see parts of you it hasn't before too. Guaranteed to meet some cool Kiva fanatics!
It will cost GBP 15 per person but this is going to Kiva so you can feel damn good about it and carry that charitable high straight to the pub for the after-party.
You can sign up as an individual (and we'll sort you out a team) or as a team so start recruiting!
2) Promote it! Encourage others to take part - tell all your mates (especially the wacky ones), post event details on your facebook, website, or twitter. Alert any Kiva friends based in London!
