This week the Late Loaning Lenders team hit a couple of milestones with its 60th member and 200th loan. 200 loans in 25 days of existence is a reflection of the commitment and generosity of the team members who both call attention to the problem of languishing loans and do something about it through their support.
As of the time of writing, over 600 interesting new loans have been added to the site today, pushing older loans down the popularity list into relative obscurity. 41 of these older loans will expire before the credits roll in in two weeks, unless they get noticed. I know the LLL team will do its part to help these loans get funded.

Given the insight we were given on the popularity programming, I think we can be clever about this. There are a bunch of loans which need funding prior to the 15th (and remember there was sort of alluded to that should the auto program stop payments on the 15th, that it would be the NEXT day!!!!!!). If we had a group of people take choose a loan with a way to go before funding, we could get several of us to loan SIMULTANEOUSLY. This would bring the loan up to more popular (and maybe hit the home page). At the point that it goes on the homepage, then others would accidentally discover the loan! This would leave more funding for other loans.
So it would be a meet in chat, decide on a target loan, then those who can start funding, maybe send Facebook a message, and then let things happen...
When that loan gets funded, then another is selected. Remember that the formula is how much has been funded RECENTLY along with overall funding.

And this month, the 15th is a Saturday, so if the auto-credit-return routine doesn't run automagically, we won't likely see credits until the staff arrives at work on Monday the 17th.
Cool idea, Colette. And those of us who aren't in a position to lend can click on the chosen loan to open it a couple-few times, thereby adding to its popularity.

My thinking exactly, Colette. We could even refine the approach and work out just how much it takes to move a loan up to first position. For example, if we collectively have, say, $1000 to commit, and discover that it takes $100 to move up to first, we could manipulate 10 loans up to first position, one at a time, rather than using up all our capital on just one or two. Unfortunately, I'm off on vacation starting tomorrow and will have only sporadic computer access for two weeks, so I can't be depended on during that time. But we have two excellent LLL co-captains in Ramona and Jennifer, and lots of Kiva friends.
There are two loans about to go red tomorrow.

OK. I will be in chat Monday about 11am CA time. If we let things happen naturally over the weekend, and then gang up on one loan at a time...come one, come all. Even if you are out of credits, you can come join the fun! (That would be me.) Just those with the $$$ get to decide.

Fabulous, Colette! I'll be with you all in spirit while I'm on the road. It looks like the Dutch wing of the LLLs are already on the case of the two red loans this morning. Go team! The next six loans are at 6 days left... See y'all in a couple of weeks.

I have ONE credit left until August 15. I would be willing to "donate" it "to the cause." (No currency risk.) Jane
