OK, so I've been posting photos of Kiva borrowers with amusing t-shirts etc. to the 'interesting pictures' thread for some time now (I send my profuse apologies to whoever started that thread as it was almost certainly supposed to be a sensible thread when they started it!)  This evening I was translating a loan for a man in Nicaragua which made me laugh out loud.  This was not because of an amusing photo but because the loan description itself was amusing.  I wanted to share it with my Kiva Friends friends but wasn't sure where to put it.  So, I decided to start a new thread (this way I don't risk annoying sensible Kiva Friends on other threads and instantly know where to post anything that makes me laugh which I feel a desperate need to share with other Kiva lenders who might have a similarly weird sense of humor).

OK, so here's the loan description that made me laugh so much:

"Oranges, bananas, pineapples, mangos, apples, pears and bees in search of sweet fruit are part of the daily life of Ramón (who is known as Moncho)".

As I worked my way down the list of fruit, I came to 'abejas' (bees) and semi-panicked, thinking "are 'abejas' some type of Nicaraguan fruit I haven't come across before??"  When I finished reading the whole sentence (as my old Spanish professor used to scream at us on a regular basis "read the WHOLE text before you put pen to paper"), I couldn't stop laughing.  I laughed so much I simply had to hand over $25!  Nice one MiCredito!

I just love the juxtaposition of the borrower's incredibly serious face and the picture on the wall calendar.
