It would be so neat to have some of the loan recipient's artistic products available in the United States--a Kiva store.  Some of the products I have seen that would be totally cool are:

the beads from Africa (looked baked in an oven June 5 time period)
the block prints from Samoa
the woven mats from Samoa
the bags from Samoa
musical instruments from Asia (don't remember which country)

I know there would be import issues, but it would make a huge difference.  Plus we could see and buy the products!!!

Yeah that would be great. It would kind of be coming full circle for some people.

I'd love to see rugs from Afghanistan, if that's possible.

This sounds like The Hunger Site's store, where they sell items crafted in developing countries.  Except the difference here is that you'd "know" the person who made it!

I for one would not have a problem stocking items at kivastore.org.

My thought exactly as I was looking at some fabrics a young woman was selling that she had hand printed.

I would love to be able to purchase some of the beautiful items I see on Kiva. If this can happen I think it would be fantastic!

Mekong Plus has a few businesses doing quilt-making and they sell the quilts.  Check out http://www.vietnam-quilts.org/content/blogsection/6/31/ for more details.

I would love to purchase the rugs from my lending partner's shop in Afghanistan.  Not only would I be buying a beautiful handcrafted item but it would also have a story behind it.

I'm with all of you on that. I could do half my Christmas shopping already with this one woman's "patchwork."

Are you suggesting an online store of these products?

It would be great to have access to some of the products that borrowers are making, but.............there are many lenders who do not live in the USA who might also be interested in these items.
