Thanks to Joe's continuing generosity, Kivapedia is up and running!  Cheesy

According to the About Kivapedia page, "Kivapedia is a public Wiki for all things Kiva related. It is hosted by and maintained on a volunteer basis, mainly by users of the Kiva Friends community forum. We went online in June 2007."

Please feel free to stop by, look around and help expand the Kiva Friends community through Kivapedia!  Grin

Just wanted to say thanks to Richard for getting it started! He did the majority of the work and the awesome layout of the main page. I just installed the software and helped with a few pages Smiley If you have a specific question on how to edit something, drop him a PM. He's got a ton of wiki editing experience and knowledge.

Some notes about it.

Pretty much runs like Wikipedia(.org) does. Since it's the same software. Aside from a few things, just about everything you can do there you should be able to do here.

Anyone can view it, but registration is required before you can edit. This is to help prevent spam bots from screwing with it. Registration is quick though. Enter your username and an e-mail address and you're good to go. If you want to keep things simple, just use the same username and password you use on the forum. That will be especially useful down the line if some sort of universal login can be implemented (forum, wiki, and whatever else we may add in the future) Be sure to login when you want to add or change something.

Links are now up in the header of this forum for quick and easy access Smiley

The Kiva Timeline needs work. So if you know a lot about Kiva events since they started, jump in and add them.

If you're not familiar with Wiki fomatting, just add your info as best you can and save it anyway. We'll format it for you.

We need a good transparent Kivapedia logo to stick up in the upper left corner. If you're good with graphic design, create something and upload it. If we get a bunch we'll try them out and see how they look. If we use yours then you'll get a Kiva gift certificate Smiley

Edit: I added a new sub-board to the main Kiva one. This thread was also moved there. If you need help or have any questions/problems concerning the wiki, post them in this forum.

Have fun.

I just now discovered Kivapedia.   I spent a little bit of time fooling around with its Lender Search function, understanding that that was but one small part of what Kivapedia has and will have to offer.
So, it felt right to take a moment to write to tell Richard and Joe,

        I think it's fantastic.       And.....

       Thank you.

Its potential for building and strengthening connections between members of our worldwide family is quite very truly wonderful.

       Best,
        Jill

Kivapedia now is listed at WikiIndex.  This is another way to help get the Kiva word out, especially to those interested in international development wikisSmiley

I'm looking into how Kivapedia can collaborate with Appropedia, "a living library of appropriate technology, sustainability and development."  I've had conversations with some of its leading editors and included Kivapedia at Appropedia's WikiNode for International development.  The Web just keeps on weaving itself!  Wink
