[Apologies if this team already exists and I'm wasting my time - I did look!]

Would anyone else be interested in joining a team specifically focused on funding housing loans? I've noticed they don't tend to get a lot of attention generally, and I think people really underestimate the difference having a secure, comfortable home can make.

I don't want to wind up making a team that nobody will be interested in, but if people are interested I might have to put one together.

I would be happy to join your team.  Sounds like a great idea.

I went ahead and made it anyway. Patience is not my strong point!

Team Housebuilder

Have to wait until some cash comes in before I can really get the ball rolling though.

Hi Bastet and  Welcome to Kiva Friends!

A housing team sounds like a great idea!  We have a few other themed teams captained by Kiva Friends who were looking to build non-competitive teams.  If you are interested, some of these teams are

KivaFriends - Agriculture Loans
KivaFriends - Enterprise Loans
KivaFriends - Single Parent Loans
KivaFriends - Disabled Persons

Glad to have you here, and I am looking forward to seeing your team grow!

We're already up to six loans and nine members! I'm actually over the moon about this.

I can't wait to see how we're going to look on the 15th, when we can really start getting the 'team housebuilder' out there on the loan pages.

This one could be right for any one of several groups: Housing, disability, single parent. What's not to love? Oh yeah. Currency Risk.

Aurea Alexandre Simao

Aurea was born in the northern province of Zambezia, in the city of Quelimae. She is 29 years old, and a single mother of 2 children aged 6 months and 10. She attended school through the tenth grade but dropped out due to respiratory problems. She lives in her own home with her children. She also supports her mother, who still lives in her native province of Zambezia, by sending money to her at the end of every month.

Aurea did not grow up with her parents. When she was still a baby she went to live in the Inhambane province with friends, and later lived in the city of Maputo (in a home left to her). She does not live with the father of her children. She lives off the rent she earns from a building that was left to her by her grandfather in the city of Maputo, which she rents out, earning 12.000,00MT monthly. She is using the money to build a brick home in phases, and to cover family expenses.

She learned to run a business (selling a variety of products) in the city of Maputo, before moving to Boane where she has lived for more than 10 years.

This is Aurea's first loan with Hluvuku-Adsema, in the amount of 12.000,00MT. It will be used to purchase construction materials (cement, sand, etc.) with the goal of completing construction on her home. Her future plans are to finish her home and build a small store. To do this she plans to repay the loan without any problems so that she can have access to future loans.

Ooh! That is a good one! Shame it got funded before I could get to it though!

Instead, how about these two?

She has no kitchen, currently. I cannot even imagine trying to get by without a kitchen - it's always been the focus of my home!

Aleksandr [not a meerkat] actually builds houses for a living, which I think fits 'team housebuilder' altogether too well.

Both have only two days to go!
