There are quite a few housing loans currently available in Afghanistan, like this one:

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=146421&_tpos=1&_tpg=1

The only annoying part is that a lot of them are listed as 'personal use' or 'construction', making them slightly harder to find.

This one, I think, should definitely count as a 'housing' loan, since that's where most of the bricks will be going - no point in lending people money to build their houses if they've nothing to build them with!

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=145166&_tpos=3&_tpg=2

And finally, one for all the gamers out there. I'm a lifetime gamer, and his shirt just plain made me smile. Gamer, and a housing loan? Oh yes.

I love loans like these two:

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=148742&_tpos=1&_tpg=2
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=148412&_tpos=2&_tpg=2

By repairing other people's houses, they not only improve their own living situations, but other people's as well. I'd be willing to bet that when we see loans to pay for labor costs for house repair, the money goes to paying people like this.

And this one:

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=144256&_tpos=3&_tpg=2

Is now our closet housing loan to expiring. Not bad!

There are quite a few housing loans from Mozambique at the moment. They do come with a currency risk, but they're all translated and come with very detailed write ups, like these:

I confess, I have a soft spot for loans to people wanting to build a bathroom/restroom in their homes. I think Team Housebuilder might want to consider this necessity we tend to take for granted, when looking for loans to support. Don't forget to use both search terms if you're looking for these loans.

A couple which are currently fundraising:

Those are definitely good loans! For all I don't bathe as often as I perhaps should, I'd be lost without the ability to just jump in the shower whenever I needed to, never mind the rest of what we use a bathroom for!

Rous Sam Oeun

Rous Sam Oeun is a young married woman who currently cares for a small kid. She is a good homemaker who cooks tasty meals for the family. At present, she buys and sells grocery items in the busy local market and earns $4 each day. Also, she relies on income from her husband, who works in the construction field.

Rous Sam Oeun has an older house that is surrounded by pollution affecting her health and her daily living conditions. Therefore, she has requested a loan to clean up and repair her house. With any remainder from the loan, she intends to increase her inventory for grocery sales.

12 month loan through 5* HKL (Hattha Kaksekar Limited ) with CEL N/A.

I'm posting this loan here since it is a housing improvement loan, but it could also apply to the Single Parents or Disabled Persons team.  It's also almost an education loan.....

Yamilex Del Socorro Aguilar Perez

Yamilix, 30, works in the Human Resources department of the Nueva Guinea campus of URACCAN University. She is a single mother of a 9-year-old son, who is in 4th grade. She has worked for the university for 3 years.

She currently is living with her elderly parents, whom she cares for and helps out with everything in her ability. Yamilex is studying for her masters degree in university education. Her greatest wish is to be an experienced professional. She is known in her town for being very hard-working, responsible, of good habits, and very sociable.

She is asking for her 9th loan, which will be used to pay for the installation of flooring in a room and to make some other improvements that are needed so that it will be in better condition thus gradually improving the home's infrastructure for the benefit of her parents and her son.

Nicaragua, 4* AFODENIC, 26 month loan with currency risk covered.
