These ideas all sound great.  I like the idea of real time loans being streamed into SL. Do you have the code for that?
Diane, I'm not sure we need to have two offices, and this one will get more traffic than your land since its set up for non-profits.   Can you keep your land open just  in case this office falls through?

Anytime you have time to discuss this in SL let me know.  Noone showed up Saturday so I don't know if we want to try to schedule a meeting? We can start setting things up to see what we have so we're ready to move in when we get assigned an office.

If it is possible to real-time stream real loans that need funding into SL, it would be amazing! I so far figured, that it would be a nice way of explaining what Kiva was...but if funding gets possible, that's even better, because people can stick right in SL and still fund a loan...amazing! You know how this whole things keeps blowing me off my feet!

I've had computer problems off and on for the past week and have only been able to get back in-world late this weekend.

Here's an idea:  use the land I put aside to start preparing things we might want to move into an office, and we can just pick them up and install them when the approval comes through!  Go ahead and build there, and if you're not already in the "Kiva.org builders" group I set up, let me know and I'll add you to the group.  You should have appropriate permissions to build and script there.  An SLurl that will take you to the land is:

I'll be away Thurs. thru Sun. this weekend, unfortunately, but will try to get in-world most evenings this week (Pacific time).

Julia,

just being curious: Have you been able to develop something for the office yet?

Thanks.

Have you all seen KIVA, "critical-connectors", & Second Life, by Leslie Jarmon on Matt Flannery's blog?  Smiley

Leslie is a member of the SL KIVA group, and she's the one who invited me to the non-profit commons meetings on friday (that I posted pictures of).

We are currently on the wait list for an office at that place, and they are having the grand opening of the area on Aug 14th.  Yours truly just made the official tshirt for the event. I was trying to think of a way to put a secret KIVA message on it.   Wink

I don't know if we will get an office by the opening (and not much has been done on it yet), but I made a small KIVA display that I am hoping we will be able to have out.  And I've offered a KIVA gift certificate as a door prize, so that all who attend the event (including Anne Chung, the SL millionaire) will know about KIVA.

Hi,
Sorry for the real late notice, but for non-profits in Second life in about 1/2 hour (2 pm Pacific time) and they want people wearing thier non-profit shirts.  If you can pop into SL for the shoot, please do, lets have as many KIVA people there as possible.

I'm going to go make a new shirt for the occasion.  I DON'T have a copy of the white KIVA shirt ('cause I gave mine to Ramon) so if you have one please wear it.

thanks,

SLURL, Julia?  Where do we go?

Don't we have a giveaway gift box with a Kiva shirt at our booth?

Kiva was well represented at the photoshoot, Diana (Eleanor), Joe (Skeeboo) and I (julles) were there in our Kiva clothes.  I gave the person who runs it a copy of the KIVA display too, to put out at the non-profit site until we get our office.  The magazine is 'Composure' and apparently they did a real life shoot of some of the people too.  I"ll keep you posted on when and where it comes out in print.

Update on the donations in the first life aid booth - we've raised about $10 US so far.
