Ok, I knew my wheat crop was gone.  Ok.  I've dealt with crops failing before.  We were flooded out this year.  No big deal.  I can make the taxes.

But my mother didn't tell me that we had 4ft of water in the basement of the house.  It wiped out the water heater, washer and worse - the central heating we JUST PUT IN NEW LAST YEAR.  $2,000 GONE!!!!   Cry

FEMA came out and asked my mom questions.  My uncle called me to ask about insurance.  I called FEMA today to see how I could file for disaster relief.

1.  I don't qualify because I don't live in the house.

2.  My mom doesn't qualify because she doesn't own the property.

I called my brother (co-owner) to see if our insurance policy had a flood clause.

He's checking (his wife took care of this while he was in Iraq - I took care of taxes).

I hate FEMA.  I support my mother by providing her with a home.  Now I can't afford to heat that home.  And FEMA won't help.

 Cry

rant off.

That blows big time. If you want to push the issue you may want to go public with the situation as a human interest story. You never know what could happen.

Here's hoping the house insurance has a flood clause.  All the best.....our hearts go out to you.
